The Eagles have been known to disappoint - the NFC Championship games against Tampa Bay and Arizona come to mind - but those were at least at the end of seasons that were a lot of fun.

This is a kick in the gut.

No, not even close. I stopped caring years ago so there isn't really any surprise or dissapointment. Andy Reid sucked the excitement out of Sunday for me along time ago.

Yeah this is the worst, in large part because of the effort by the players and the hack at DC.

It's neck and neck with '05 to me for a regular season.  We were coming off a tough superbowl loss, but had no reason to think we couldn't return next year.  Then TO went TO, McNabb and his injuries...nightmare.

1994 was the most disappointing year.

They started 7-2 and whooped up on San Fran 40-8 during that time. They then finish 0-7.

Just to add how bad they finished - the awful Bengals beat them in the last game in the waning moments when Doug Pelfrey drilled a 54 yard FG.

Worst. Season. Ever.

This season actually makes me miss 3-13....though, this team wasn't really that hard to watch then.  Because our players actually made an effort then and weren't completely embarrassing.

This and 2005 are the two most disappointing seasons in the Andy Reid era, IMO.

Tampa, last game at the Vet, we're favored, Tampa couldn't win in the cold and it was COLD,  Mitchell had us rolling, they couldn't stop Duce, everything going our way even tho Banner hurt the team with another contract dispute, i. e., (Trot)----and then like Suday Reid stopped running the ball.

No game worse. That was the year.

Yeah that season was terrible. I was a kid, so I think I cried after the last four or five of those loses. Its easier to take a disaster season as an adult.

2005 was the most disappointing IMO. Coming off the Super Bowl Run and the absolutely terrible season that was, plus the injuries, plus the T.O. saga. UGH!

1994 was bad but I wasn't expecting anything. Though I totally bought into the 7-2 hype.

I agree. 05 might've been slightly worse, just cause we had to sit through mike McMahon. That Seattle blowout was one of the worst games I've ever witnessed.

2005 was the WORST EVER.  After 2004 I legit thought we were going to win the superbowl the next year. Then the TO crap happened, the Atlanta fiasco with Trotter being ejected forcing Mike Labinjo to start who got owned the entire game and was cut 4 weeks later, then everyone got hurt, it was just TERRIBLE.

Every season that does not end in a Super Bowl victory is a disappointment and it is all equal except...when we lost to NE in the Super Bowl. Can't compare.

does anyone remember a season where the expectations were this high and we flopped this bad?  I honestly can't remember,  maybe 2005,  but at least that was explainable by injuries and the TO nuke.

The couple of years following the Vermeil Super Bowl run were dissapointing as well.......... but I don't remember ever being disgusted with a team like I am this year's.   I don't remember an Eagles team with this much talent that flopped this bad.   Its inexplicable and inexcusable.

Andy Reid has to go.  You could overlook the playoff failures when he kept winning,   because it was a lot easier to buy the scenario the best way to win a super Bowl was to consistently make the postseason.

But when he stops making it,  that goes out the window.   I could have overlooked it with a young team,  but this group has to much talent to overlook a flop like this and not hold the head coach accountable.    You can blame Juan all you want but Andy is the dolt who hired him.

Andy has had a great run here,  but its time to go in another direction.

There are no words to express how dissapointed I am.

Not for me personally. I've become used to disappointment, so when we're underachieving it's not something that catches me off guard.

Oh we've had some sorry teams,  but like I said I don't remember a season with a higher expectations where we flopped worse.

this might be the first time I have ever agreed with one of your posts....probably because there was no mention of McNabb   . But yes, well said. spot on.

Iron is pretty knowledgeable... he's a homer for McNabb and he was wrong about Tony Gonzalez but he's cool.  ;)

I would say '05.  SB to 6-10.  This team is at least competitive every single game.  The only problem with this team is they only know how to play 45 minutes.

It's so disappointing this year because we've been so good the past several seasons, and the expectations this prior to the season were so high.

Listen, Reid have had some pretty good assistant coaches under his wings in the earlier parts of last decade.

It's OBVIOUS that our slide can be attributed to the loss of those coaches, none more devastating
(as it is now apparent) than Jim Johnson. Just rewatched highlights of the 2008 vs Giants playoff game.
Our defense was just phenomenal in that game against the defending SB champ.

SOMEONE needs to find some quality coordinators for Reid, and don't count on Reid to find those guys.
Castillo is the first priority FIRING this offseason for sure. We should start contacting his replacement IMMEDIATELY.

You'd think but it happened so quickly there wasn't even a long time to build your hopes up before it was over. Premature disintegration I guess Posted Image

Plus the Castillo hire always weighed on my mind as someone that would probably screw up the season
