Does this deal bring DeSean's expectations down a little?
I feel good about $7.5 million a year.

Too late now, once they franchised Desean at 9.5 million the Eagles lost all leverage for a long term deal.  Jackson will want a long term contract paid like he is a top 5 WR in football.

I may be wrong but didnt the Eagles tag D. Jackson, which means he has 2 get the 9.4 million? I'm not following it that closely so I could be mistaken.

Can't the Eagles withdraw or suspend the tag? Didn't they do that with someone(Cory Simon?) Certainly I'd think they could before DJax signs it.

The only thing "different" about this thread is it is "8 hours" late.

I think any long term deal for DeSean should match this. Stevie doesn't have the "upside" of DeSean, but DeSean doesn't have the consistency or red zone presence of Stevie, which makes them a wash IMO (both have their offenses they will strive in and the ones they will struggle in).

I'm MORE worried about how much it will cost us to keep LeSean. Foster's deal is giving him like $8.5mil/yr average and LeSean is just as deserving of that as Foster.

What does that even mean? What upside does Desean have that Stevie Johnson doesn't? And why did you put it in quotes? Do you consider alligator arming catches and shying away from contact an upside? Or perhaps it's an upside to run backwards on punts.

Let me guess, Stevie Johnson doens't take 78 safety's 670 yards deep.

That makes little sense.

You are right in that they tagged Jackson, but you are wrong in that if they happen to come to terms on a contract extension that he "has 2 get the 9.4 million" ... he would then he paid according to his new contract.

Why would they want to do that ?

They did lift the tag off Simon and Trot, but that was because those guys were refusing to sign and were holding out.

I'll get bashed for this, but Jackson still doesn't deserve as much as Johnson got. Johnson is a better all-around player who makes all the catches and also plays hurt. You never hear about him being a diva and he means a heck of a lot more to the Bills than Jackson does to the Eagles.

I can agree that Jackson and Johnson are deserving of the same amount of money (no more than 8 mil//yr).
But you should be ashamed from not recognizing how much value Jackson is to this team.
No, he might not be elite like Andre Johnson. No, he might not catch 15 touchdowns a year.
But on a year where he didn't perform so well, the offense sputtered. It looked sluggish at times.

The point is, the better Jackson does in games, the better everyone else (receivers) around him will be also.
You cannot blame Jackson for being a one trick pony when the head coach is as stubborn as a mule.
Yes, he's the fastest on this team. Does that mean he goes deep every single play? Ask Andy.

I use DeSean as trade bait, I need an all purpose receiver like Ward, not fast, just gets open and catches EVERYTHING IN CLUTCH TIME!!!!!!

I know the #'s but you need to include the four year stats, AND the return production. DJAX should get paid slightly more.

SJ doesn't return punts and make safeties go deep. You people are blinded by what DJ did last season. All you people do is whine about DJ. You people whine about how DJ isn't a L. Fitzgerald or C. Johnson. All you do is look at what he doesn't do, not look at what he can do. You people should be grateful we don't have a WR like Pinkston or Thrash. SJ isn't perfect either. Look at these videos of SJ:

Sj is just as much of a diva.  He might catch more balls but I wouldn't dare say his hands are that much better.  I remember Him dropping 2 Td's in one game as well (both of which would have sealed a win and He doesn't return punts.

Stevie Johnson is a diva. Just go ask any Bills fan about his touchdown antics
