Dave,

Do the teams themselves have any say in the schedule?  For instance, if the Eagles wanted to play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving could they ask Goodell or whoever is in charge of the schedule?

Just curious...

I think the teams can offer some input. For example, they can say that the Phillies could have a home playoff game on such and such a date and maybe it would be best to schedule an away game. Just an example. I don't know how much weight the schedule makers give those suggestions.

I anticipate the schedule on Tuesday

i think the networks have more to do w/ who plays who on thanksgiving than anyone else...and, from an ST holder's perspective, the last one they were in (cardinals 2008) was a mess b/c it was prime time.  i was actually supposed to go, but at the last minute my family changed plans and i had to bail and give the tix away.  i couldn't even watch half of the damned game b/c i was driving home from my aunt's house.  so, in short, no thanks to thanksgiving day.

There are times teams have requested certain things. For instance, I've heard  the Eagles requested the Packers for opening day in 2010. Dallas wanted to close Texas Stadium with the Ravens in 08, and I believe that same year, New England had games scheduled in San Fran and Oakland and asked they be placed back to back so that they could just stay out west all week to save on travel. San Fran stayed in Ohio the week between them playing the Bengals and  Eagles last year, and though I never heard of them asking for that, it's possible they may have suggested it that way.

Now that you said that I expect Wallyhorse to come barging into this thread any minute now.

Yep, you're probably right. Will continue to be overkill, just watch the ratings drop.
