Cornerback Asante Samuel joined his Eagles teammates on Monday morning at the NovaCare Complex for the start of the offseason conditioning program. There have been reports that teams have inquired ...

Does he love it in Philly enough to renegotiate his contract to 750 k per year...

IMO, trade him if you can. We have corners up and coming with a corner coach.

If asante wants to stay here First he needs to stop running his mouth secondly he should restructure his contract. The eagles are great at that and it usely benefits both parties cuz asante will get the cash up front. I think The DC should be fired if you cant fit 3 probowl corners into your scheme . I dont want to see asante go for less then 2nd round pick or a 3rd or 4th plus a veteran DE/LB/TE. As a team we dont have alot of holes. rd. 1 move up and grab cox. then jump back in first to grab Luke K from bc. If not grab z brown from NC. then get Cfleener TE from standford. then grab high motor de and fill in roster from there. those 3 players will contribute right away. I think we are fine at safety but I do think we need a vet. Y bell for 2 years or bring back dawkins and let him retire a eagle. lots of Rb and wr in draft in later rounds. we need to improve our special teams and rdzone offense. C Fleener TE gets us our big body rdzone target. will be upgrade over TE clay h. where is our fullback. bring back schmitt or I would check weaver status.

I'm feelin u on dat on dub. I actually think since Samuels likes to play off he could be dangerous in the slot. Both DRC and Nnamdi are strongest playing man so if Samuels can restructure his contract and the eagles keep him. I think that would be dangerous. The only thing though.......if he restructures it makes him easier to let go because any team can pick him up with less cap space to cover. We only have a few more days to c what's gonna pop off. If he does leave his charity probably will not continue in the philly area for those single mothers. That would be a very unfortunate turn.of events. Go green.

get rid of nnamdi the failure and keep asante and DRC to cover the outside. Draft boykin for the slot and marsh and gibson are no worse than dimitri patterson was a few years ago. We would be fine without nnamdi, and he is the worst out of the 'big 3' But I do like asante and I hope he can stay, but we do need to move up for tannehill so whatever works for the team works for me.

Exactly he will get killed in the slot.
He doesnt play tight and drc cannot play the slot either! Drc presses and gambles on the outside cause his speed allows him to make up for errors. He cant do that in the slot. we need to upgrade our slot corner position. Hanson .... Its time to go. Maybe curtis marsh and a new draft pick work out.

3 outside corners and none can man up effective  in the slot. Well nnamdi can. This is a tough situation

if he will restructure, i'd love to see him stay cuz he's one of my favorite players currently on the team. as for drafting tannehill i think it'd be a huge mistake to give up so much for him. they should draft kellen moore from Boise in the late rounds i'm sure he'll be there, that kids a beast and not even getting talked about right now

we should keep samuel because he knows this defense better than nnmand and drc.  this guy has had a good career with the eagles and the only thing he needs to do to stay is reconstructure his contract to go for that superbowl run.  the eagles know that and so does he.  keep him and lets go green. go eagles.

Maybe try and get him to re-negotiate his contract and keep him, I know he is due a lot of money but we need him.  Maybe they could both come together and show each other they are willing to work out a deal that works best for both...

Medeagle, where do you think we are gonna get the second 1st round pick from in order to land both Cox and Kuechly? then again you are obviously high thinking that Dawk would be an upgrade on Allen, Coleman and Jarrett....Pace, there is absolutely nothing that you are suggesting that makes any sense at all...C'mon guys you can do better than this! Get rid of Nambdi? Are you serious?

Dawkins was great back in his prime.  im his number one fan but he is too old.  i would like to see him sign like a one day contract just to retire as an eagle.

Medeagle u want to trade up for cox and then, trade into the first for luke K when he might go before cox? We would have to give up a lot to even make that possible. I agree tho with getting either cox of luke K at  15 or trading upf or them and then grabbing fleener if hes there in the 2nd round he could be the eagles version of jimmy graham.

10.5 mil cap hit is a lot of dough... even with his Cap hit we still have money.  Asante brings a lot of moxie to this team... still an elite talent.  I was concerned about rumors of team discord... and Asante's not interested in being more team oriented. We need him to be on board... utilizing his talent the way the team needs it most.  Will Todd Bowles be able to get this talented group  to play more effectively as a unit?  His reputation says he will... This leagues emphasis on the passing game, demands more than just two top CB. Samuel's experience and talent if we are able to better incorporate it in our scheme will pay huge dividends for a Playoff run.  We need to keep all the talent and experience we can for a Super run. We Shall See.

RE-POST! Because it's worth repeating.

Is it possible to get Asante Samuel to restructure the remaining 21 over 2 (which no one will pay), into an easy to afford deal of 24 over 4 (a flat $6M per year base), with an incentives package of an additional 400K for each pick over 5, and a 500K bump if he hits 55 tackles?

If he had another year like he did in 2006, his figure would top out at around 9M (give or take discounting of course the amortization of his signing bonus). Money he probably figured on having in retirement would be in place and the Eagles would be locking up a star until his retirement.

If we can restructure to MOVE him, why can't we restructure to KEEP him?

Sign dawkins as player coach for 1 year, would be a great leader and he could retire an eagle.  Take Kuechley 15th. Trade the browns for Colt McCoy, great backup QB.  Draft DT and WR in the 2nd round. Sound good?

draftjunky, I said last year the Eagles should have signed BDawk to a player Coach contract. There is no way they are taking Kuechly at 15, if he's there, based on how Reid values LB's. They will also not draft a WR in the 2nd round. There are too many holes in the D that need to be filled before addressing the Offense. I think they go S, DT, 2 LB's and a CB with the first 5 picks. That would be the smart way to go.

funt you are an rtard...  honestly i have usually agreed with you in the past, which is making me question my intellect as well, and being the confident D1 MLB that I am as well as a part of the honors college at my school, thats pretty tough to do. So, lets lay this out for you: Nnamdi has come into our locker room for an overwhelming salary. He was targeted more times than he has been before, and thus has let up more passes. This gives kudos to your argument that he has done well. He can not, however, be moved from the RCB position or else he poops the bed so to speak. He can not match up 1 on 1 with TE's as Gonzo, who is 35, vdavis, well, embarrassed him. Nnamdi also gets beat by not being dynamic enough and having players run by him, which has consistently happened this past season.  On top of that, you say he has ammased 350 tackles... what you fail to note is how far downfield they are. As a corner where are you tackling a ball  carrier.... downfield. When, when someone beats you and catches a pass. Now remember he played on a poor raiders secondary. So effectivley, what you pointed out is that nnamdi was the best dback on the raiders (which effectivley says nothing). He was signed at a salary wayyy above his true ability, and he is not suited for our defense due to a lack of dynamic playmaking ability. He was also brought in as a leader.....   did he do his job there? about as well as a policeman who spends his shift in the doughnut shop.  So thanks for your argument funt, and thanks for the late night laugh while I sit here and write my paper for my ethics class about overplaying players. I might use some of this.... can I quote you in fact? so this way I'll look really intelligent when I soundly debunk your argument in a 10-12 page essay

Bflip, yeah man I get you. It seems a lot of us have been humping the idea of a contract restruct to keep Asante... It seems his agent and himself as well! Great. And when Jenkins didn't hesitate to sign on to retire here after one year.. what does that say aboyt the Eagles? and the Packers Org for that matter.. Git it done Asante!! I think Peters injury shows depth is vital even in off season.. And I think 4-3 linebackers are as expendable as RB's in the minds of GM's and coaches, so no high picks unless they are off tap talet

pace... gee thats some angst.... I read and find myself nodding a bit.. Nnamdi has a huge price tag for his age... Would you trade him to get Claibourne?? I think I would... But I would rather keep em all for this years run. Get Boykin and Y.Bell and that would be some spicy meatballs...
