You really are delusional. No one chanted for Sandusky or rioted when the Paterno statue came down.
Frank,
I'm not trying to be argumentative with you, but I'd use the word "no one" a lot less frequently when it comes to Penn State in these conversations.
A good friend of mine writes for MaxPreps, Ring Magazine, CBSPhilly, College Football News and many other publications. I have another that you guys read on a daily basis on the front page of ESPN.
Both were there when the statue came down. You are 110% correct that no one was screaming for Sandusky of course.
Saying that there was no one "rioting" is true, but both writers both shared that police had to use force with people getting out of hand. One had a rock thrown at her car. People were going crazy.
Certainly, you are correct that's not a "riot", but just like using black and white to "all Penn State fans" is incorrect, the way your response can be taken is also a bit black and white. It did get a bit ugly.
The reactions to Westboro Baptist Church have been more tame than that statue being removed. (I'm obviously not comparing the two.)
The simple conclusion is that there are obviously nit wits in Happy Valley that continue to fight the truth while there are people outside the area that pile on a bit much.
Again, my post is not to point out other, but simply to give a response from people who are there, gave eyewitness accounts and had to deal with police and file reports against Penn State students.

The last home game was a Blue Out organized by a couple of grad students for the benefit of abused kids. Go out to any street corner in PA this month and see all the kids volunteering for "canning" for Thon. My kids were part of two teams that brought in over $2,500 last weekend. One of the top engineering schools in the nation, top business school too. Lest we forget, they also have a top graduation rate amongst 1A schools in athletics.
MIstakes were made. No one is foregiving the past administration at PSU, McCleary or JoePa (or the janitors) for any of this. (I would point out that after McCleary waited a day and with the identity of the kid involved still not know, the success of any criminal investigation for that incident was limited. Given the prior complaint, though, they should still have gone right to the police).
If Silas wanted to go to another school for reasons other than bowls and NFL possibilities, that's his right. I do have a huge problem with a school on probation for cheating pulling the scholarship of a team member to recruit him. That just seems to be dishonest and backhanded by USC to me.
I would not brag about knowing a person at ESPN. That is such a sorry excuse for journalism, even mentioning it takes away credence to the rest of your post. At best, they practice yellow dog journalism but really, it's more like that tabloids that post telephoto pictures of a princess. Sensationalism sells. Those jack***es don't even mention graduation rates or charitable work by PSU. (When people ask why PSU would give access to its facilities to a former coach associated with a charity for kids, I simply respond that the University is so charity minded that doesn't surprise me in the least.) If the reporter for ESPN was the one that "had a rock thrown at her car" I would more likely believe in the tooth fairy than her story.

If Redd thought he had a chance to be a high-round NFL pick after this season kiss it good-bye thanks to Lame limiting his touches to ensure that would not happen and he would be back for his senior year. Lame probably cost McNeal a couple drafts slots bringing Redd in as well.

I appreciate your thoughts. I was not aware there was anything like that going on when the statue came down. Yes, people did stupid things on the night Paterno was fired, but I thought the mood when the statue came down was very somber. My apologies if I'm mistaken.
