I know i'm late but wow, thread starter should be shot for the Tom Brady comment. I have been cricitial, yet somewhat hopeful Foles works out....but he has a long ways to go.....Comparing to Tom Brady is a bit much.

Lets start by shaking the Bobby Hoying comparisons and move up...

Foles had some good moments, and some bad. He looked like a rookie, but also looked like there is something to work with. I think a few things are pretty clear though.

*Foles is clearly going to be one of the greatest of all time.
*Upon completion of his career, the NFL will mandate that every team retire the #9 jersey.
*The HOF will waive the 5 year eligibility rule, and will induct Foles prior to the end of his career, maybe even some time this coming December.
    * Foles will win 3 or 4 Championships in the next year or 2.
    * Roger Goodell will eventually expand the season to 25 games in an attempt to allow future QBs to break all of the records Foles will no doubt hold before his career is over.
    *Those efforts will prove futile.
*The NFL will soon change the name of it's championship game to the Super Foles!

The line in 1999 was pretty damn awful. Tra Thomas was a bright spot, while Brzezinski was a rookie and Everett was on the downside. The right side should not even be mentioned. Duce Staley was a solid NFL back who I liked a lot, he was not Lesean Mccoy. The receivers were a joke and you are ignoring the massive rule changes that took place in 2004 that allowed for a more pass heavy NFL. It is not a legitimate comparison to just talk about stats.

On a side note, I really wish people would stop saying Foles had a picksix taken away by penalty. That is incorrect. He had an interception nullified by a penalty, but the player was down by contact and the announcers stated as much before the penalty was announced. Foles was okay for a rookie playing in his first ever NFL game. He could easily have had a second TD pass, but we chose to do the smart thing and pound it in from the one. Possible outcomes cut both ways, so let's just wait and see where he goes with a week to prepare before praising him as the next Tom Brady, which had been a joke when this thread was originally created, or blasting him as an AJ Feeley clone.

I don't compare Foles to Brady.  Others have because Foles was drafted in the third round, vs. RGIII, and Luck. Being drafted in the third round as a QB is not doomed to failure.  Joe Montana was the 82nd pick in the third around of the 1979 NFL draft.  ****BEFORE THE IDIOTS POST ANYTHING**** I'M NOT COMPARING FOLES TO JOE MONTANA.  I'm only pointing out that you don't have to be drafted in the first round to be a great QB in the NFL.   By 1999 logic, Tim Couch should've had a 10+ year career instead of McNabb.  Remember who was drafted third in the 1999 draft?  Akili Smith.  Some now unemployed NFL GM, and unemployed NFL head coach in 1999  with the new Cleveland Browns was convinced Smith was the better QB than Donovan McNabb, I saw the NFL films doc.

Just because you are drafted in the first round, does not make you a QB god.

Get a new hobby.  Seriously, what is your problem?  You're worried if Foles is the "real deal", Reid stays.   Lurie isn't that stupid.

It was sarcasm. Had nothing to do with worrying about Reid. Not even sure how you got to that conclusion.

The second half of my post honestly was me just ranting. I haven't posted my thoughts on Foles anywhere really so when I started in about the INT I just kept going. There are plenty of successful QBs that weren't taken in the first and plenty of first rounders that were awful. Guys like Matt Schaub have been taken in the third round, Brees was nabbed in the second and Tony Romo wasn't even drafted. Good players are taken in lots of places, and obviously your chances of getting a good player are higher in the first round but that doesn't mean players taken after that can't be better. I completely agree with that line of reasoning, but I see no need to state that Foles will be the next anyone as of yet.

You really ought to use a picture with Brady and his FIRST baby's mama.  That's who he would have ended up with had he remained a backup QB for the rest of his life.

If Foles wins a Super Bowl we can revisit this post and see who he gets to bang.

The funny thing about this thread is that it says one of the things they share in common:

"Lots of composure with a big arm."

Tom Brady never had a big arm. He was scouted for being an extremely accurate passer, but he fell out of favor at the combine because he had such small arms and wasn't very muscular in general.

Nick Foles is the exact opposite. His scouting reports all say he was an inaccurate passer, but has a strong arm.

"Reidtard"?  I wanted him fired after 2009.  Actually after 2005 would've been best.  Yet I wonder when you mock hope for Nick Foles, are you making fun of the fans, or Dave Spadaro/Philly sports media?   An unclear use of sarcasm.  How cynical do you have to be to read into a post?

I just hope we all can enjoy something different than Vick.   This is 1993/1994 combined in one season.  Let the rookie play and see how good he is.  Ray Rhodes drafted the best Eagles safety of all time in 1996.  I'm hoping Reid drafted the Eagles future at QB with Foles, without his participation in future seasons.

honestly i think nick foles will be the starter next year, unless they hire chip kelly. i just dont see foles fitting into his system. it needs a QB who can be threat on those zone reads. we seen it last game the defense just does not respoect foles keeping it and running and for good reason thats not his game.

Yes, but you keep referencing posters comparing Foles to Brady. The fact that you bumped this with a statement like that infers that you believe this is an example of such a comparison.

You realize there is a very real chance that I am older than you. I'm glad you're enjoying the jokes now instead of assuming that every single person that makes a comment about Foles and another QB as completely serious.
