Kelce ended the year with a bad wheel. If you subcribe to the belief that keeping Vick healthy is paramount, having no competent backup center makes zero sense to me. Don't need to see Nick Cole II. If Kelce goes down its ole to Vick. Don't get it. Backup Qb and backup center could be the killers to the season. This year's blind spots. Worse than GLew as a returner.

STFU, to you start threads just to see yourself talk?  Stop it, just stop it.  I can say the same thing about CB, RB, WR, MLBer, any O-lineman, the only spot that can sustain a injury and be ok is D-line.  So for the love of Taters, get back on your rock and run.... run far away from your computer.  Jebus help us....

I could point out that the combination of the starting center ending the year with a bad foot, with our recent Nick Cole experience, added to the fact that CBs, RBS, WRs and MLBers do not have the responsibility to protect the franchise Qb that the center has, cuts your opinion off at the knees. I could point that out, but I'd rather watch you spray spittle on your computer monitor. So do carry on.

I, for one, like topics like these.  I'm not here to make online buddies; I'm here to talk Eagles football!  As for the topic at hand, I think the team will likely just keep Steve Vallos.  Solid vet who has played the position in the past, unlike Vandervelde.  The only way I see this not happening is if they can pick up a better option off waivers after final cuts.

Not sure who is leading the competition for backup C now ...Reynolds ?  He's been around for a few seasons now (albeit PS), and Gibson has NFL starting experience at C.

1st - I agree. The need of at least an average backup center is critical.
2nd - I have complete faith that the best OL coach in the NFL has that handled the best he can
3rd - Unfortunately there aren't 32 real good starters let alone finding a top notch backup that can play as good as a top notch starter.

Gibson, Vallos and Reynolds are all in the mix with Vandervelde also thrown in for good measure.

I've read that they are experimenting with Vandervelde, giving him some reps there.  Don't know if I'd feel comfortable with him as the primary backup with more experienced players ahead of him.  But I trust Mudd to make the right call there.

Reynolds, Vallos & now Vandervelde have all taken turns taking snaps as backup center. I think Gibson got a couple snaps, too, but if he did, it didn't last long. I don't think any of them are really good enough.

I'd say Vandervelde has the best shot, if only because he has a shot to back up at both guard spots as well as center and Reid likes linemen who can play multiple positions. But I agree that depth across the entire Oline, not just center, is a concern.

Hell, 1/2 the teams in the NFL can't field a quality starting OL let alone decent backups.
The difference the Eagles have THE BEST OL coach in the NFL. So I honestly have zero concern about the OL and haven't given it 1 seconds thought this off season.

I'm definately concerned about our depth at guard/centre.  Bell gives us one solid tackle for depth. But beyond that no one really stands out at me. They seem to like Vandervelde but it doesn't sound like he's done well at centre.

Credit where it's due, he sure did.  Anybody else feeling like we didn't know how good we had it with Tra, Runyan, and Fraley/Jackson?  Put modern day shady behind those guys and you'd have magic, if we would run the ball, which we wouldn't.  Ah, nevermind

You crack me up. No wonder you suck the balls of that wonderful radio station like your a little insecure kid.
Your just like those clowns and the media. You take bits and pieces to make what you want out if statements.
And since you once again have decided to make me the center of your  life ( which I find funny as hell),,  I will at least help your sad arse with what I actually said throughout the topic.
1- I clearly stated in 1 of my statements that I thought backup center was critical.
2- I clearly stated that since there aren't enough quality starters, then I wouldn't waste my time worrying about a quality backup.
You get it dummy. I don't waste my time in things that aren't realistic.
Although I did just waste my time on your silly arse.
