Really, is there any team that can match up against almost any SEC team?

The SEC is top heavy.  Alabama (sepecially), LSU, and Georgia look like a handful for most teams, but Auburn, Arkanasas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, or Missouri are not world beaters.

I still say how can you compete with schools that have no academic standards? I bet over half of the SEC players could not get into NotreDame/Boston College/Michigan/Virginia. Just listen to the interviews, and you won't say a word in rebuttal. Talk about cults. Penn State was the disgusting of the disgusting, but the cults worship in the South is no better.

Maybe USC? Oklahoma? It would take one helluva team playing a near flawless game, but it can be done in a one game situation. Maybe.

Most schools don't have the academic record (and I suppose the entrance standards) of those four schools.  I tend to agree that it should be at a higher level throughout all of college football,  I am just not sure that it is the only reason the SEC (2 or 3 schools really) wins national titles.  It is just way easier to recruit athletes to winning programs with traditions of putting players on NFL rosters.....and they do that.

USC I think is the only team that would be able to dethrone the SEC. Possibly Oregon too but thats about it. I think Oklahoma and FSU would need perfect games to beat Bama or LSU

\

That is right, but there are alot of things that can happen in a bowl game.  It's one game for the rest of your life...nothing held back.

I tend to believe that any of the top 10 could give an SEC team a run in the bowl game.  May take the perfect one, but it still happens enough to know that nothing is a lock.

This list has a lot of names that have a cloud over them for how
they run their programs and what they have gotten away with.

Ok, but did any of them punch an opposing player in a bowl game (see Woody Hayes), did any of them cover up a pedophile (see Paterno), did any of them have a player give back his Heisman, get smacked down with sanctions only to see their coach bolt to the NFL (See Carroll).

I think Oregon and USC are the only two teams with a shot.

and that will probably end up being the title game anyway.

Oregon or USC vs SEC winner.

Oregon, BUT have the SEC team travel the 2800 miles, and encoun ter a rough flight. isn't it nice not to have to go more than a few hundred miles to your next game.

How neutral is playing in the Sugar Bowl if you are in the SEC, or even the Orange Bowl?? No, I actually was talking about traveling across country to play teams. Best conferences should interact and play each other more frequently, and show that they can travel longer distances, play in the bitter cold and heat, and still win.

They should move a national title game outdoors to a cold climate like the Superbowl.

See how they handle that s***

USC will endure the yearly crash and burn soon enough where they will lose to an unranked team and no one will talk about them anymore.

They already play in the heat, dude, they travel, what they do best is...

dominate any other conference champ or independent

Oh yes, they travel tons, play on frozen turfs, with face masks. No they stand on the sidelines with a/c and mist blowing on them.  Soldier Field in January. And you say how many time did the Great Bear beat ND?
p.s. wait till Trent starts feeling the bitter Cleveland cold.......Schools with most NFL players produced.........

Actually, the most players have been produced from Notre Dame. You guys above me are telling us which school has the most active players in the NFL at this current time. The proper answer to the question is the following.
Notre Dame 462
USC 461
Ohio State 390
Oklahoma 339
Michigan 332
Nebraska 331
Tennessee 321
Penn State 317
Texas 316
Miami (FL) 294
Florida 289

Only Tarkenton played in the SEC 100 years ago and never won a super bowl. Montana, Brady, Brees, all North QB's that won the SB, quite a few times. But always remember ND 462 currently active players in NFL- that is quality-The SEC shrivels up and dies when the heat is on!
p.s. plus the ND players can read and write and have futures outside football......Ha......Ha...........Topic Closed!

The SEC is by far the most dominant conference in college football. Anyone who tries to argue is just stupid and/or jealous that their team can't compete.

100 years ago, like when ND beat Alabama?

ND players in the NFL, recently they have been crap: Quinn, Clausen, Abiamri, Laws, Tuck was pretty good
