But don't you think the fact that RG3 might miss the entire 2013 season alters the strategy?

If we aim high and go for Jon Gruden as Vermeil is now suggesting, we can seriously contend in the NFC East next year - especially if Dallas stands pat with Jason Garrett.

I dont care who the next coach is as long as we get back to power football.    Hard nose defense and power running.   Hopefully he will use both McCoy and Brown and build the team around the run!

I agree, with a Young QB... the run game will be paramount... The best part is that in a passing situation there is a wealth of Talent to work with ... Now we just need a Decent aggressive Defensive scheme and we will be Excellent for about 5 years.

Welcome to the 21st century. It's a passing league now, and we need a franchise QB with a head coach that can make, or allow his coordinators to make, decisions on the fly to help us win when the current game-plan isn't working. We also need a coach that puts round pegs in round holes. Also, it would help if the coach wouldn't ignore our pro bowl running back who's one of the best in the league.

McCoy definitely would, look how much he made his offense a running offense because of Tebow at QB. They lead the league in rushing yards, McCoy would run the ball for sure, he'd do what he thinks is best for the offense and maintain balance.

It will be interesting to see who wins this years SB. A good mix of running teams with strong D's and passing teams that will flat out outscore you w/ average Defenses.

So I guess you're all in favor of losing, unimaginative football and have no interest in taking advantage of the rule changes to open up the passing game that have been enacted over the past several years.  Is that what you're saying?

No... But Power running mixed in with a TOUGH defense will win some games... The Passing Game will benefit from having that type of game as well... Andy would pass and was never a threat to run the ball... if power running, becomes an EQUAL part of the offense then the passing Game becomes extremely effective.

Why settle @ decent? Get Ryan or Crennel... go hard on defense, i wanna get back to eagles football... hard hitting and aggresive defensive football... I don't care what they do with lesean and his fancy ****otry dancing around like a queer... i want a one cut and go back... i like Bryce if he can hold onto the ball. Get a large receiver and trade desean... stop being fancy, hulk smash that a** style football.

No, i am saying run first, establish the run with one two punch of McCoy and Brown.   Then use play action to set up the pass.    This style is what we need to set up the long ball to Jackson.   It will also take the pressure off the QB.

With the talent on this team a decent defensive scheme will be pretty much crushing.

I agree.......lets script the first 400 plays for next year right now.....350 runs and 50 passes sound good.

This is what Reid never seemed to get. He would pass 40+ times a game and think play action would work.

I love people who suggest this.

Have they seen anyt of the NFL over the last decade? When was the last power running plus defense Superbowl winner, Baltimore?

Passing 80% of the time is working great for us.   What has our record been the last few years?

use the pass to set up the run
script the first 15 and stick to it
let the defense do what it wants, the offense will pick up the slack
no need to adjust in-game, our scheme is sound

On the road to VICKtory!!

can this coaching drama be over yet?

I actually like the pass first approach just not to the level Andy employed it. I mean he just flat out refused to run the ball.

it can be effective... But with a young QB you're better with a run first approach... maybe tweek that depending upon who you are playing against defensively... A team Like Seattle or San Francisco would be a pass first game... but mostly the game plan should be a 55 pass 45 Run split.
