This guy is a flat out beast.

Ryans won't last forever and Te'o could play right away anyway. He is a playmaker and could be the next great LB in the NFL.

He would have been a 1st round pick in 2012 if he hadn't gone back to school.

This LB group would be rich with playmakers.

He'd be a good pick, but we have a lot more pressing needs in the first than WLB.

I'm always cautious of Notre Dame players on this level.

i remeber this thread from last year and I'm surprised it hasnt been brought back till now.

what would the LB situation look like if we took te'o? would he play will or would kendricks move to will and he play sam

either way the linebacking core would be epic

at the start of the season i was thinking this could be a good pick but since i would agree that we may have more pressing needs (OL, S, possibly WR/CB)

other LB prospects worth consideration are jarvis jones (UGA) and kevin reddick (UNC)

Won't he be a top 10 pick? I am hoping to have the 32nd pick next year. :D

I think Tackle is going to possibly be targeted in the first. Peters injury was pretty bad and he is not getting any younger, the same with Herremans.

Manti is beast though. Kendriks at WILL, Ryans at MIKE and Teo at SAM would be the best LB's we've ever had.

Like what? Please don't say offensive tackle! The better tackles have been found in the later rounds lately. Some of these first round picks are MIA, rarely ( didnt say never) does one get drafted high or mid and come in and dominate right away. IMO, the past two draft classes of tackles drafted in the first stink.

I'd love to see the Eagles grab Te'o. He's a playmaker for sure.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and watch every game and consider myself pretty objective.  E.g., I think Michael Floyd will be a top 10 WR for the next decade (starting next year), but I doubt Zbikowski will ever make a Pro Bowl.

My opinion:  Manti will be a big disappointment at the NFL level - I just don't see top NFL level skills there.

Te'o is going in R1, and this regime (and others before them) doesn't value the position enough to spend a first-rounder on one.

In fact, the last time Eagle_smiley.jpg drafted a LB in R1 was 1979.

In 14 drafts under Reid, our first pick has been: QB (Mcnabb, Kolb*) DL (Simon, McDougle, Patterson, Bunkley, Laws*, Graham, Cox), OL (Andrews, Watkins), WR (Mitchell, Maclin) and CB (Sheppard).

(*2nd round picks having traded down).

i would love to get him personally.

i think going into next year though, our most pressing need is a safety

I dont think he'll make it to us. If he does, oh my gosh, he's a beast already but now he will have this extra burn/fire since his girlfriend/ grandma died.

Keep dreaming. At this rate we might have a shot at Te'o in the top 10.

I think there are more pressing needs like OL and S, but if you can add a solid playmaker like Te'o you almost have to do it.

I wanted Te'O before he decided to go back to ND. Now there's a realistic chance that it can happen.

i'd love to be able to get te'o and eric reid but that is seems very improbable unless we acquire at the another 1st rounder. .  but w a new coaching staff that isn't out of the realm of possibility w all these dead weight players we are probably gonna trade away. maybe acquire enough mid to lower round picks to trade up and acquire another first.  but out of te'o and reid idk who i'd prefer right now

Te'o would be sweet but highely unlikely. Really need to address the Offensive Line and safety spot.

This might be the player that we really need after this disastrous season. A middle linebacker to build our defense around for the next ten years and a guy who never takes a play off and seems to be the best leader that college football has seen in a long time. Could bring what we have been missing since Dawk left in addition to a great MLB

I'm a huge ND fan and Manti Te'o just feels like he will be that Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins type leader for someone for many years. He is already that guy for the Irish. Very smart, nice kid but on the field he's a beast.

That 1st round stat line is pathetic.  Epsecially seeing the number of DL they have taken.

I consider myself an objective ND fan too and I completely disagree, his instincts are already at an NFL level, and for a linebacker thats half the battle there, the guy is going to be a stud in the nfl that I am sure, since I saw his high school tape 4 years ago, you could just tell this guy will be playing on Sundays, just the same as you watch Eifert or Floyd the past couple of years, you can just tell. Now I never thought HArrison Smith would ever be an NFL player let alone a first round pick, Ive watched a few Minn games this year, and he looks just as bad tackling as he did at ND. And I dont think Teo is the best ILB though, i think Kevin Minter from LSU just stands out on the defense everytime I watch LSU games(which is saying something since they have Reid, Montegomery, and MIngo as well), and Ive seen like 4 or 5 games

One thing about Manti is that there really isn't a lot to be desired with the other linebackers. There just is not much talent there. I mean Dan Fox and Calabrese do not blow anyone way, And Spond is pretty good, but not great. Seems to me that Manti really makes that Linebacker unit play better than they are.

Anyone who wants to see what Manti is all about should watch the game tonight on NBC against BC. The other players to watch are Tyler Eifert, Stephon Tuitt, and Louis Nix. Those are the best prospects on the team.

but this one may actually live up to the billing on Sunday.
