Not exactly true:

"Before we looked for another one (hotel), we decided we just didn't feel right about asking employees at any of the hotels down there to start making a bunch of extra efforts to accommodate us, when so many of them are having issues themselves," a senior Steelers official told ESPN's Rachel Nichols.

"There are a lot of very difficult things going on for a lot of people in that area. Us having to fly in and out on the same day as a football game is no hardship in comparison."
Two things

Good post

Rachel Nichols

Nope you never do, especially younger people who statistically cash in far more often due to some completely idiotic, irresponsible yet could have been totally avoided way.

You're right Mighty.  I'll go buy some depends stock.  You're an investment I believe in!

Modern Machismo:

"It can be argued that the display of dysfunctional machismo can be displaced anger over an inability to handle aspects related to one's social and cultural responsibilities and a difficulty in taking responsibility for the assumed role assignment that a male is expected to integrate into one's personal, social, familial and work behavior." -Cervantes (2006, p.216)

"There is a long history of "men" with a pathological level of machismo, often referred to as "macho man syndrome." Essentially, this version of masculinity is a collection of attitudes and behaviors that primarily include hypersexuality, punitive attitudes toward women, social domination, narcissism, and drug/alcohol abuse. This can be thought of as a form of "exaggerated masculinity", which is a stylized masculinity that is inflated to dysfunctional levels."

"Half the harm that is done in this world Is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm — but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves."
T.S. Elliott

Symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder
  • Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
  • Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
  • Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
  • Requires excessive admiration
  • Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
  • Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
  • Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
  • Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
  • Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

The transference neurosis
This is the relationship the evolves between client and counselor over time. As the counselor is attributed with more archaic qualities and emotional energy by the client then he/she will begin to perceive the therapeutic relationship as a replay of the archaic relationships that they had in childhood with their parents.

For instance if the client came from a background where mother and/or father were domineering, angry, humiliating and unpredictable then the client will begin to see the counselor as doing those things. They will begin to misperceive things like tone of voice, looks on the face of the counselor, imagining the counselor is angry about things which they are not, selective perceptions and reinforcing memories. So over time the client finds themself in a relationship that is a replay of childhood even when the therapist is not doing that and projects preexisting personality traits/disorders (self or parental) onto the therapist.

Psychological projection and transference or projection bias, is a disorder whereby people project their bad behavior, faults, failures, etc. onto someone else, usually someone they do not like. They then attribute all of their failures onto that person

No need to thank me. I've had you diagnosed for years now

The regulars have not done anything different from last year to this year. This year, we're leaving the crying to you guys :-)

I mean other than the "It's the end of the world, we'll be lucky to win another game" threads of last year.

The 4 game skid had a little something to do with that, but again, you guys seem to be the apocalyptic ones this season, so we're just along for the ride

With the Hurricane, the Steelers aren't going to be able to fly in in advance. Their hotel is still experiencing a blackout. Instead of getting another hotel, the Steelers are just going to fly in Sunday and fly out right after the game. With this jet lag this will result in a free win for the NY Giants. So unfair because they don't need an unfair advantage yet they get one once again.

Will you shut up now?

Original poster can STFU because the Steelers won this game anyway...apparently the hurricane shut down your local CVS and you couldn't pick up your tampons earlier this week

And the refs helped the Giants again with a free TD but the Steelers beat the odds.

Nice to see the Steelers overcome the Giants and the refs today.

These refs made the replacements look like superstars.
