HE ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SAY THAT 8-8 PLAIN AND SIMPLE WOULD NOT BE GOOD ENOUGH. THAT IS NOT WHAT HE SAID.
But he did make it PERFECTLY clear that 8-8 was just a number that he threw out there and was basically meaningless.
He made it PERFECTLY clear that the final record was such a small portion of what would make his decision for him.
I know the 8-8 crap the goofy media wants to bring up makes those clowns have something to go by. But the 8-8 record,,, that LURIE MADE PERFECTLY CLEAR WAS NOT A DETERMINING NUMBER OR REAL NUMBER basically will have nothing to do with whether or not ReID stays or goes.
As LURIE CLEARLY STATED (that everyone wants to ignore for some reason), he will be looking at everything and everyone as to why they finished where they will finish. Whether it be 1st place or last place.
And common sense tells me that regardless of the OL situation (which would absolutely be a great excuse), there are other issues with thi steam and it is time to move on from Reid.

If Lurie truly cares about winning then Reid will be gone. When fans, media AND ANALYSTS start questioning whether players have given up on the HC that typically means end of the line.

It's hard to get a good read on him sometimes. He's kinda all over the map in this video.

Opens up talking about needing substantial improvement, that he's excited for the season, and that they have a good team on paper. "I don't have a level, you just try to make the best judgment after the season"
And then the...
Reporter: "8-8 would not be good enough for Andy to come back?"
Lurie: "No it would not."
So he talks about not having a level, and then pretty much sets a level when the reporter asks him the 8-8 question.
I think it's pretty clear though that he expects some major improvement or Reid is gone. It's quite clear that his expectations are high.

Sorry. But that is such a moronic statement.
Don't take it personal, but seriously think about how unfounded and dumb that statement is. And for some reason that is used around here.
I don't care who the biggest Eagle fan is. Lurie wants to win more then anyone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,OBVIOUSLY.

Hahahahaha.
Nothing against you. It's just he made it sooo perfectly clear that there were so many things more then the record that would determine Reids future. And that the 8-8 record alone would NOT determine Reids fate.

If getting 9,10,11 wins and getting bounced in the playoffs 2 out of 3 years is your definition of "winning", then Andy has been great for this team. If you definition of winning is holding up a Lombardi once in 14 seasons and being mediocre the rest, then he is not. We all know which Lurie favors, so please get off your high horse when it comes to the statement you highlighted.

Because at 3-6, your done, the team is showing regression instead of progression, and it would almost be doing him a diservice if you held onto him for the season. You fire him, or have him step down in two weeks, Bowles could be the intern coach (he has done it before) and before you all **** about Bowles, he has to work with Juan's scheme, and to be honest we got 2 turnovers against the saints almost a third and our offense got 10 of its 13 points off of those turn overs. It wasnt the defense that crumbled.
Lurie is in a spot where he needs to start thinking of this team as a biz, you NEED to keep people interested and give them something to watch. Letting go of Andy and taking away Marty's play calling ability (in fact I would smack him with the play book first) would be a great start.
Look at it this way, when we are 3-7, would you really want to watch a Andy Reid game again? Do you really want to see Vick get killed on 38% of his drop backs (which he does and yes its by far the highest in the league).
Now if Lurie fired Andy, gave it to Bowles to run and he came out and said "we are going to smash the football down the other teams throat, we are going to be a mean running team first until we figure out our pass protection situation".
Ok ill watch that.

Um...he said "substantial improvement" after an 8-8 season. Of course h's not going to set a win-loss record specifically and publicly, but the other poster is correct.

This is also untrue. Lurie owns a business. He cares about winning a great deal, but he cares about making money more than winning. Often times, those two goals are pursued simultaneously, but not always. If he has to choose one (and some decisions are made that under these circumstances), he'll take the money over the win. That is a fact.

But what about the Boss placing him on notice? He said an 8-8 season will not cut it. I really don't see the Eagles winning another game this season. I understand the injuries but they were screwing up at the start of the season. This is one of the worst teams in the NFL at this point. I would bet a bunch of guys playing in Fairmont park on the weekends would give them a run for thier money. They are horrible. To allow Andy Reid to come back next season will only result in what happened for the last 14 years. And you mean to tell the boss is going to allow that?
