Shady McCoy has played 30 more snaps than any other running back in the NFL, rarely coming off the field for the Eagles.

But McCoy has just 146 carries, which is fewer than eight other backs in the NFL.

Incidentally, it is the same amount of carries as Stevan Ridley, who has played 200 fewer snaps.

Hmmmmmmm :nonono: :nonono: :nonono:

In case you didn't know, it is a passing offense.

When switching from Vick to Foles, hopefully the new HC goes to more of a balanced attack.

McCoy also is tied for 2nd (with Lynch) in the league for touches/game with 22.  Arian Foster is #1 with 25.5.

i know everyone likes to rip andy/marty for not running the ball but this year that really isn't a fair assessment. Mccoy being 9th in overall carries when you consider that we seemingly never have the lead at halftime. Ironically the only game we actually had a two score lead in was against detroit where we flat out couldn't run the ball. Getting a lead has a large part to do with running the football.

Its not so much anymore but its when.  The running game by McCoy got us into the redzone against the Saints 5x, so then we only allow him two touches in 18 plays.  Its when we are ahead and could burn the clock, we pass.

Its the passing on 3rd and 1.  Its the continual mind boggling ****ty play calling and Marty and Andy's reluctance to put the ball into the hands of their best player that drives us all crazy.

Its 4th and inches, its the superbowl, we have been running the ball with ease all game long, we get this first down we win the world championship..........I know what I would do and sadly I know what Andy and Marty would do also.

Foster is at the top and Houston has had a big 4th qrt lead in just about every game this year, so obviously a lot of running situations.  3 of the next 5 are playing with rookie QBs, so they're gonna run the ball more.  When you get down to 7,8 and 9, those are teams with vet QBs and each of those teams has at least 3 losses.

No kidding. Was this supposed to surprise anyone? We all know AR doesn't run the ball. They only surprise I got from this was that McCoy is 9th in carriers, and not further down the list.

I do'nt care if its a running play or pass out of the back field, as long as he is getting touches, thats all that matters. I do'nt know why we don't put McCoy is the slot more often with Brown in the backfield....

Play calling is situational.  Everybody ahead of him is either on a team with a young untested QB where they rely more on the run game or for a team that has had more 4th quarter leads to protect.  If the Eagles offense was putting teams away in the first 3 qrts then they'd be running the ball more in the 4th and McCoy would be further up the list.

SHHH! You just pointed out that Reid calls more running plays than 3/4 of the teams in the NFL! That's TATE blasphemy!

What about the situation when the OL is down 4 starters and your QB is getting smashed on every drop back and the opposing team just happens to be one of the worst run defenders EVER.  Oh yeah... and the opposing offense... you don't really want them out on he field much because your defense sucks and they have one of the best QBs ever.

Oh I agree.  I mentioned it in another thread when someone said that the Eagles win most often when Shady has 20 plus carries.  I suggested that Shady's 20+ carries were a product of having the lead, rather than winning games being a product of him getting more carries.

I didn't even realize McCoy was on the field this much.  I am surprised he even has as many carries as he does since Andy Reid doesn't llike to give him the ball.

That's a losing attitude in the NFL. If you stop running when you get behind, the pass rush comes for your QB's behind.

when have we stopped running this year when behind? It's a losing attitude its a fact that in the nfl you want to establish a lead and then run the clock. We have been down 2 + scores at halftime 5 times this year !!! We have been ahead in games by more than 1 score at any point in any game only once all season !!!! You don't think that makes a difference to rushing totals? At the end of the day players have to execute. You can scream at coaches all you want but when players aren't executing plays that are there that is on the players. Perfect example. Against the giants we have first and goal at the 1. We give the ball three straight times to shady. He doesn't score and everyone screams why didn't you just let vick run it in !!! The very next week vs pittsburg its 1st and goal on the 1...vick gets the call and fumbles !!! I'm sorry but all four of those downs are on lack of player execution not on coaching !!! The truth is we have had alot of first and goals but not a lot of goal line situations. We have run in the redzone very ineffectively. Vick is consistently missing open receivers in the red zone.  We've allowed sacks in the redzone. All of these things are on the execution side. You can scream at reid and marty all you want to but this vick lead offense is not producing points no matter what we call. We've had games with well over 100 yards rushing but we still get 16 points because of turnovers and poor execution. Wake up running the ball six more times a game is not going to change the outcome.
