I was watching the game last night and it hit me. Could we possibly trade for Mercades Lewis this offseason? I know Celek is our guy and we are "high hopes" on Harbor but Celek has had a rough year and his blocking is still average at best. Mercades could come in and challenge Celek and Harbor for a roster spot, plus it would add a veteran face to the offense.

Height - 6' 6'' (big target)

Just a thought, he will be 29 in May but he hasn't had any bad injuries and could be used as a RZ guy. Also depending on the new HC here we could run two TE sets with Celek and Lewis.

Trade a draft pick or one of our lineman (Tapp or Landri).

Thoughts?

what about his 3/36 stat line made you feel differently about him compared to our current TE who routinely posts 3/36 stat lines?

Well I just didn't focus on the stat line from last night. Lewis was a bomb TE coming out of the draft, and he had one breakout season in 2010 but look who he has played with, Gabbert and David Garrad......the dude hasn't had good coaching or good players giving him the ball. Different team can maybe pose different results. From what I researched Lewis is one of the best blocking TE's in the league.

I'm not saying he can come here and blow it up but Celek needs a light under his butt, with the drops and fumbles.

nah. id rather sign jared cook as a weapon or even jermichael finely (rather have cook), or draft the notre dame TE. celek can block just fine what we need is someone to stretch the middle of the field and be a force in the red zone. lewis could do that possibly but im not trading picks for him.

i can't deny that replacing one marginal TE w/ another sounds like a move that the eagles FO would make.  send them a resume, maybe howie'll hire you, you have as much experience scouting talent as he did when he was hired.

Didn't Celek just get a contract extension?  He won't be going anywhere and I like Harbor the Eagles just never use him.

We have way bigger needs thne a TE at the moment. If we use the money we have in FA for a TE I would be upset. Draft is the only way we should try to get one
