Irony, is a sumamabish ain't it?  We run Donovan out of town and what the hell have we done since then? Nothing, that's what. We've actually only gotten worse.  Say what you will about Donovan, but we were much better with him, than without him.

taken us back to the nfc championship game in 08, an 11-5 record in 09, and was having a great year prior to injury in 06?

2004 was a superbowl loss.......anything short of getting back was a failure.

So once again, what did Donovan do after 2004.......

Not a chance.  It'd be pretty hard for a QB to come in and actually do worse than Vick.

So yeah, the bar's pretty low.

In hindsight, both Reid and McNabb should have been out after the NFC Championship loss to Arizona in 2009. It was clear that they were not going to be able to get over the hump at that point. McNabb only stayed a year past his expiration however, whereas this is Reid's fourth. That's one of the reasons I really don't feel bad for Andy, he's had three times the amount of time a normal coach would to get it done.

You really should have known that you would. We were in final four five times in a decade with McNabb. While we never won it all, it was by far the best years this team has had in ages.

I doubt that. Vick has not accomplished anything here short of one playoff appearance where we lost. Even if we stink for a few years, Andy will be the one who is missed not Vick. A QB that can get the team to the playoffs once in three years isn't much to miss.

Oh yeah, I certainly miss winning a handful more games a year just so the QB can puke and disappear in a playoff game every year while a lesser team steps over us to go win a championship.

Yeah, those were some great years. As fans we were spoiled rotten with all the consecutive playoff appearances and nfc championships. But then there is the other side of the coin, which is all but one of those NFC championship games ended in crushing heartbreak.  And the one Superbowl ended in defeat too.  So when it all boils down, McNabb didn't win us a superbowl, and neither did all the other QBs over the last 50+ years. I will always remember those years as a fun ride..but never long for failure.  Which ultiamately was McNabbs career as an Eagle. Yeah he was exciting and did alot of great things..however, he got there but could NEVER win it all.  So instead of longing for what was, long for the day that the Eagles win the SUPERBOWL!!!!!

Yes, "spoiled rotten"... with a whopping 0 Super Bowls.

I hate when people say that.  At this point, I'd take what the Bucs did instead... win the Super Bowl and fall into obscurity for 10 years, rather than be competitive for a decade without winning the big one.  Because right now our franchise has a whopping ZERO Super Bowl championships.  Until that changes, I'll take whatever we need to just get 1.

The real irony will be that you want Reid gone and you will be saying the same thing when the eagles suck worse for the next 10 years.  God you taters know how to brighten my day.

When I said spoiled rotten, I meant that every year we expected to make the playoffs and did.  You obviously didn't read my whole post.  I said that when it all boiled down his career was ultimately a failure because he couldn't win the superbowl.  So put him right there with Vick, Jaws, Garcia, Kolb, Cunningham, Detmer (both of them), Peete, Hoying, Brister, Mike and Jim Mcmahon, Ken O'Brien, Pat Ryan, Doug Pederson, Jeff Kemp, Norm Snead, Roman Gabriel, Sonny Jurgensen, and any other QB that was played for the Eagles since 1960.  They all FAILED!!

if you're talking about the '99-'04 McNabb days when we just a good WR away from a Super Bowl (and the acquisition of TO proved that's all we were) then I think it is safe to say we ALL miss those days.

36-26-1,  winning percentage of .579 and 2-2 in the playoffs. Without him starting the team has posted a 29-29 record with a 1-2 playoff record. Not sure why anyone feels the need to bash McNabb at this point.

BTW, Donovan was a great QB for this team.  It's a shame Reid ruined him by not giving him receivers at first and trying to turn him into a pocket passer after that.
