I remember you mention that Invision said the boards were a-ok on gameday before.   What are they saying about today?  The site is mostly unusable during game time.

I recorded the screen for about 5 minutes earlier so that when it's said that there were no issues, you can see how things were going. For me at least. I also clicked around PE.COM and NFL.COM toward the end so you can see that those respond quickly, so it's clearly the EMB and not my internet connection.

One thing about today, as slow as it is, it's not as bad as it usually is because people are so disgusted both with the team and the board that there's not nearly as many people posting or on the board now as there usually is.

I'm sure you will get a takedown notice VA because of the audio.

Best to avoid than address.

If I do, I'll mute the audio on it. It's a pretty random clip though so I doubt they'll even register it. There's full games posted on YouTube that don't get taken down.

once again, they just locked up the eagles blog beacuse it is supposedly too long. And as usual, the problems with the boards persist. Still getting server errors. Still long load times.
How is it so hard to understand that too much posting is NOT a problem. Having boards that cant handle it IS.
Invision doesnt cut it. We shouldnt have to sacrafice anything to stay with them. What have they done for us other than make the message boards go from absolutely fantastic to complete trash?
If they cant supply a product that can handle people actually using it then take the business elsewhere. This is beyond ridiculous. This thing hasnt been fixed in months.
Just trying the same "solutions" that dont work over and over again isnt going to be the answer.
Quit locking the blog and go find some software that works already. Jesus Christ.

I would imagine the vision for this team going forward is blowing up this team and begin looking for the next era...It's hard to look at how far this team has actually fallen!

I'm no Database expert, so it very well could be an issue having a very large thread, but the biggest issue isn't a thread, it's bandwidth on high traffic days. 9 times out of 10, during the week, the board responds fairly well. During a game or breaking news event, it's horrible. That's a traffic/bandwidth issue. Not a single thread issue.

It seems like someone is shutting off various things within the ACP though and that screws up the way the board operates. During the game today (and last week I believe), I couldn't get the enter key to respond while posting. So I couldn't make paragraphs unless I toggled "editing mode" off.

Dave, is the board on a virtual server, a dedicated server or a shared server?

Invision reports that their system is working perfectly with regard to limiting the number of negative posts received by the Eagles on game day....everything is A-OK.

I think in the gameday thread someone mentioned there was only like 100 people on and it was still going ridiculously slow. What kind of message board can't handle 100 people?

There were more than 100 people on the board, maybe only 100 on that thread but I know for sure there were nearly 1,000 people online at one point.

Guys, this site is better than a site that allows people to post on gameday. There's no board in the NFL with more talent, they just gotta put it together. They believe in themselves. No one outside their Invision and Novacare offices matters, and when they finally start performing, the haters are not welcome on their bandwagon.

This site is on the cusp of greatness. The talent is there with a potential for bandwidth dynasty.  It's just a hair off, needs a little tweak. They saw some things they thought they could exploit. In hindsight, they probably "goofed" and need to just keep firing.

Gold standard.

We don't touch any of that.  The only thing we do on gameday is disable new topics on TATE while the game is on (and for a few hours after until people calm down).

Then it must be a side effect of the high traffic. I couldn't use the enter button in any thread for about 3 or 4 hours yesterday. But only on the EMB.

I spent time during the game on the boards and they were a bit slow, but OK. I hopped around a lot. I didn't immerse myself in the single game thread, which is clearly the problem. We just can't have one thread with hundreds of people posting messages at the same time. It won't work and it's not going to work, so the answer is to break down the thread, as Invision did last Sunday.

Did you watch the video that VA posted? It took him a good 50 seconds to open your forum, and another 50 seconds just to open the "post your EMB concerns" thread. I don't think that's "a bit slow". That's how I'd expect the Internet to run if we were in 1998. I've had this happen every Sunday on game day as well.

No Dave, that's not the problem. If Invision is telling you that it is, they're lying to you. I've been on these boards for more than a decade now and this year is probably the worst I've ever seen.

Did you look at the video I posted? I wasn't in a single thread in that. I was clicking around.

The problem is NOT a single thread, the problem is Invisions server. We didn't have these issues 18 to 24 months ago (and backward). Sure, the board basically crashed when Terrell Owens was signed in 2004 or when the Eagles lost the 2002 NFC Championship game to the Bucs, but that was because of the amount traffic, not because of a single thread.

Now, the boards become very solw not only on game day, but at random times of the day during the week too. Yesterday (I don't remember what time) it was acting the same way for me.

They fired Ziegler, so that should help the message board problem...just like firing Juan Castillo should have helped the offense's lack of productivity and turnover problems.  Real Men Of Genius!

I don't know if you're quite getting a proper picture of the problem from just testing it this past Sunday. It was slow this past Sunday but not as bad as usual because people have become disgusted by both the team and the unresponsiveness of the board and have given up and aren't even logging in. I for one used to spend the entire game day in front of my  computer watching the game on TV and posting on the board. It's gotten so bad that I rarely even try to open the EMB while the Eagles are playing anymore.

Before this year, you could go to the game day thread for example and follow the game from the posts and post about this play or that play and have it be current to the game action. No real slowness at all.

Now though, let's say that Shady breaks a 60 yard run or Vick fumbles... again..., and you try to make a comment. It might take 5 minutes to go through the whole process of clicking on the thread, typing the post, clicking "Post" and having it actually show up in the thread.

Now Invision may tell you that it's because of having so many people in one thread at one time but that's either a lie or just an answer they're pulling out of their *** to get you to leave them alone. I've been in Game Day threads where there were 1,000 or more people in the thread and didn't have any issues.

I understand that you looked at it this past Sunday for a few minutes but if it wasn't much of an issue, people wouldn't be complaining as much as they are. How many complaints about board performance have you seen in the past decade? How many have you seen in the past year? I'd bet that 95% of all complaints were within the past year or so.
