Eagles Picking 4

01. Kansas City ..... Geno Smith .......... QB ..... West Virginia
02. Jacksonville ..... Jarvis Jones* ........ LB ..... Georgia
03. Oakland .......... Star Lotulelei ........ DT ..... Utah
So the options are Luke Joeckel* who assuming a healthy Jason Peters I would start at RT with the intention of moving him to LT in a few years when Peters contract expires - If Peters is not healthy then Joeckel starts at LT.
My Offensive line with a healthy Peters
RT Luke Joeckel
RG Todd Herremans
OC Jason Kelce
LG Evan Mathis
LT Jason Peters
OR
Manti Te'o could play SAM while Demeco Ryans is here and playing well. Kendricks could move to Will - so with Te'o the Eagles would have a LBer corps of
WLB Mychal Kendricks
ILB Demeco Ryans
SLB Manti Te'o
I love Manti Te'o but I think it's more important to fix the offensive line.

Eagles will get to 3 behind Jax and KC
taking the A&M tackle will depend a lot on the health of Peters and Herremans.
Also you may be able to get a quality tackle early in round 2 and kick Herremans back inside.

and it's Jason Peters, not Justin.

Thanks BigEd - fixed. I'd explain but it doesn't really matter. About Barkley - I tend to agree - except that teams have been reaching for QBs quite a bit lately AND Jacksonville can't possibly go into next season with Gabbert as their starter can they?

I think your spot-on with Joeckel, but as the Eagles are as predictable as the weather as where they'll finish it would not be a reach if we ended up with Taylor Lewan. If we do go defense and were drafting high enough for Star I could see that as well. Te'o and Milliner are talented players who are destined to be impact players in this league, but I don't see an Eagle team drafting JUST for talent when there are solid players at a need position available.
Realistically, we are in a rebuild and generally that means lines get the first attention. At this point we probably will be looking at getting some solid players for a long time in place. That's why the Watkins pick surprised so many people. Depending on free agency and looking at the field I think our priorities in order will be:
OT
S
CB
RG
then again its a ways to the draft

1. Chiefs: Geno Smith (QB)
2. Jaguars: Jarvis Jones (OLB)
3. Browns: Sam Montgomery (DE)
4. Panthers: Star Lotulelei (DT)
5. Raiders: Damontre Moore (DE)
It's too high for a guard, which leaves (in my opinion) three players as the highest possibilities; Dee Milliner, Luke Joeckel, and Manti Te'o. I think the Eagles will address the offensive line in FA and some good OLBs will be available at our second round pick, so I think we go with Milliner. Obviously if St. Louis wants to they could trade up and select Joeckel taking him out of the equation. I guess we'll just have to wait until April...

Sam Montgomery isn't going top 5. Joeckel probably will. The jags, panthers, raiders could all use a tackle. I also see the rams finishing with a worse record than us too. So im looking at lewan or milliner. Teo is a decent player but he's not going to be a Patrick willis so in the top 10, I wouldn't take him. Plus lb isn't a huge need.

Yeah, reminds me of Runyan with his nasty streak and I believe both are Michigan grads.
Plug him at RT and move Todd back to LG. Most of your problems on the Oline would be solved and it gives us a year to properly evaluate Foles.

The offensive line with Peters, Kelce, and Herremans isn't broken.
Add Te'o and build a defense around him, Cox, Kendricks, DRC and a new safety in the 2nd round. Demeco Ryans isn't staying next year.

There are some good Tackles scheduled to be FA - whether they make it to FA remains to be seen - and the Eagles have done enough mercenary signing in the past couple of years - lets assume we get to the draft without addressing either position in FA.

I don't know why you would think Demeco is going anywhere - he's playing good football and he's only 28. On the other hand ... right now the Eagles do not have a RG - Herremans is an adequate OT but he has pro-bowl potential at OG. Both Jason Peters and Herremans are 30 - Both are coming off injuries and despite reports that Peters might be back this season, his type of injury could prevent him from ever being the same player he was.

Based on position alone I go with the OT... but is he the type of guy you can plug in at LT for 10-15 years and watch him make a string of pro bowls, or is he a guy who might not be able to play LT?
If the latter, give me Te'o... kid is special, and in today's NFL you MUST have LBs that can cover.

TEW - I can't emphasize enough that it's November and April is a long way away when talking draft. With that said - Joeckel has faced a lot of the top pass rushers in this draft and shut them down. Last year Jackson Jeffcoat (Texas) was on an absolute tear leading up to Texas game against A&M - that tear came to a screeching halt - Jeffcoat was a non-factor. This year, in a loss vs LSU he completely shut down Barkevious Mingo* and Sam Montgomery (Mingo is currenlty projected in the top 10 and Montgomery in the top 15). NFL comparison I've seen is Jake Long.
I've had a man crush on Te'o going on 2 years now. It would be a tough decision for me but I voted for Joeckel.
