The man has had a distinguished career here for 14 years.  No, he hasn't won the big game - but he's done more than any other Eagles coach post-merger.  Yes, the team is going nowhere and in free fall, and yes, the end is in sight.  But show some class and let this play itself out.  This season is lost in any event.

When Ray Rhodes had his disaster of a season, he wasn't fired mid-season, and the team wound up doing very well in the post-Rhodes era.  There is a good, young core of talent on this team.  Whoever takes over will have great facilities and decent personnel to mold into his team.  If the team continues its free fall, the Eagles will be well-positioned for the upcoming draft.

Firing Reid mid-season accomplishes nothing whatsoever.

Yeah, keep kidding your self, playa.  This team sux, and has very little going for it right now.  This is not a dream team ready built, like Gruden had in Tampa waiting for a coach to lead them to the promise land.

There is years worth of damage here.

Dmor, I think you and I are on an island with this one. We have a fan base made up almost entirely of whining children screaming for change. This isn't the French Revolution, here. It's a Fin' football game. Some of you guys talk like this life altering stuff we're talking about here.

Well that's exactly it.  The thing that the whiners can't do is explain what firing Reid midseason will accomplish for the team.  They just want a pound of flesh (okay, maybe a few pounds of flesh).

Show some respect for what he has done for the Eagles. To many of you do not remember what it was like before he arrived in Philly. Wait until the season is over. Six more weeks will not change your life much, but it will Andy's.

Those who chose not to give respect are not worthy of respect being given to them.

And respect is earned by those who personally lead, mentor or acknowledge you, not given to someone who doesn't equally respect you as a fan and insults your intelligence.

no one wants him to stay but there isn't any point in firing him now either, wait until the day after the last game, it won't make a single difference on next year or beyond

he is the all time leading coach in wins historically for the club, made 5 NFC championship games and 1 Super Bowl, i'm very happy to see him leave but let him finish the season

He has earned the right of having a forced resignation if the team gets blown out by Carolina.  Reid putting in all that time and preparation for the remaining games knowing he is a lame duck coach is almost cruel.  He has shown to be nothing but a quality human being and up until 5 or 6 years ago, a quality HC.  That's why it's going to be hard for Lurie to outright fire him.

so the play is for Lurie to tell Reid now (he already knows doesn't he?) and then give Reid the option to end it now or hold on til the end, his choice

Reid isn't quitting and the organization isn't firing him until after the season.
Both are showing class.

The season is lost, sweeping organizational change seems certain and they are acting with dignity.
I respect that.

Actually it would. Firing Reid would make me deliriously happy. Fire him now. Kick his megalomaniacal butt to the curb, do it tonight, right now! Have Action News on the scene, lets see footage of him packing his crap up.

I feel like if Reid was fired mid-season, other fans would just use it as another stupid reason to say what an evil and horrible franchise this is. I mean, did you guys know we threw snowballs at Santa?

Not a question of wanting him to stay. It's time for the man to go, and has been for a while.

But show some class, like Lurie is doing. Wait the season out. Give him that much.

In fact, in a way, all this screaming and dissatisfaction is a tribute to Reid. 10-11 years ago these boards wouldn't have been NEARLY this pissed off about the last two years, because the previous 15 years would have been just as bad if not worse. Andy came and showed us how winners feel, and we want that feeling back, so everybody's screaming for his head when it will do absolutely ZERO good.

Call him a tease. He wouldn't go all the way, but at least thank him for the handie...

Sorry its about the team, not the coach.

Fire him now so the focus can shift to the lack of talent.  Youre actually doing Reid a favor.

Keep Reid until the end and you wont see how much of this is a talent issue vs scheme/playcalling

Reid is a loser and he can't be gone from our town soon enough. The fans owe him nothing.

You're completely delusional. The team is not loaded with young talent. Each of its players have been overhyped and lemmings like yourself believe it instead of using your own eyes. The players stink. Horribly. All of them. Well, there might be maybe five players at most worth keeping, and none of those five are good enough to start on an actual competitive team. They're good enough to be backups. Our current backups have no business even being on an NFL roster.

This team is one of the worst ever assembled in the NFL. A bunch of con artists who have already quit. Disgusting.

And you have a scouting department that can't recognize even one good player. Not one! They sign a bunch of players with no heart.
