Morning all.  I have been pondering sumfin and it makes me wunder.  Perhaps its not the talent that was over evaluated...but perhaps how much each player buys into the there is no I in team?  If there is no confidence in the man next to you then perhaps they feel no matter how hard they try it won't matter cause the guy next to them is gonna screw up?  Sorry for the psyche ramble, just mulling over this nastiness of a season

Mr. Woodcock,...agin too bad this site mucked up/lost  my post. It was a doozy!!!... Bottomline: I never said that Peters was the only issue and even mentioned other concerns before my now famous "Keystone" reference. By now,..you should know what that means. Perk Up!,..Moreover,..2011 had its own issues,.and concerns,...with a somewhat different roster. Comparing the two seasons,..and isolating on just one variable is ludicrous. I cannot spoon feed you much more than that,..next device might have to be a bottle wiff warm milk in it,..or a reasonable facsimile thereof..........Follow up questions are always welcomed. Just use yur brain and don't waste the BORED's time,..if yur unawares of definitions. Look it up!

D25,...methinks yur query is naive yet meritous. If you ever played a game like football,.esp.....you generally have 3 choices onda field of play,..w/ regard to yur teammates and their contributions:
1. Status quo- play yur position/ yur game...100%
2. Compensate (over) ,.and attempting to excel,..because yur mate can't, won't ,.or is not doing his job.
3. Become a fakir,...and cut back to match yur mates,..or trusting them to cover for you.

Hope that helps yur psyche ramblings,....not shore what is happening here,.if anyting........................GK.

Congratulations Eric, you were right about our favorite team failing. Do you want a medal?

I mean, what Eagles fan wants to be RIGHT about a LOSING season? Root for another team if you're just going to predict the worst...there's a difference between being a frustrated and just being a pessimist...we all know the team sucks right now and has sucked for a while, but no need to brag about it. C'mon man.

@disgusted, that would make sense. These guys have been losing so long that they expect something bad to happen...a prime example of what you're talking about would be Santana Moss' catch over Coleman and Boykin. They both looked at eachother like "are you going to make the play or should I? Ok you do it...ok no i'll do it..oh wait...he scored."

Letting Reid go is something that has to happen ......14 years ....its run it course ....who else in the NFL was HC longer....theres a  reason for that ...i wont go into details as some tend to .
JPs injury started the ball rolling down hill .and Vick was helping it but...MOronweg is the "Key stone " of the problem.....

The only thing to watch is the clock counting down until the day Andy and the entire pathetic coaching staff get fired.

>>pp101: think you have a point about MM as the 'keystone'. in both 2011 and 2012, this team has been underachievers--plenty of star power but no guts or will. in many interviews, MM's arrogance shows through...and AR's apparent absolute confidence in him is baffling to me...and the supposed "mega-offense" capable of scoring early and often simply was smoke & mirrors.

no one can say that Lurie didn't give Reid all the support and tools he needed to build the ultimate contender.

once built, it didn't work.

next chapter please.

well done sir, you save yourself a trip to the shed, for you are beyond help. go straight to the 'i' button.  and you know, maybe, just maybe, respect from such a despicable character as you, is just what reid doesn't want !!

>>feathers: your remarks about Coleman & Boykin both messing up against Moss strike me as players that are "in their heads" too much and not playing the game. I   have seen athletes get 'over coached' and become too tentative and uncertain--and not relying on instincts. The Eagles defense has been going backwards all season..unraveling after some early season success. the struggles of the Mudd DL are particulaly shocking--as this was supposed to be the strength of the defense. As it happens, I think DeMeco Ryans and the LBs are the surest part of the Birds D. IRONIC as they were the worst in 2011. Regardiing the DL, I was very skeptical of guys like Hunt & Tapp staying ahead of admitted aging Juqua Parker. Fletcher Cox seems to be the silver lining on the DL --and the return of Fatt Patt. Boykin hasn't shown me any upgrade on Hansen whatsoever--guessing that they thought he'd mature and improve--its not there.

Wiff Peters out,..and his replacements suked to high heaven,.including eating up important moneys,.a cascade of events,.some real,.some theorized,.occurred,.affecting play calling, including the run game/pass game,..how other line members reacted,.and even proning more to injury,.not to mention how Vick could have been affected,.in so many ways,.after vowing to perform better this year.and having to affect the D early on,.as it was going thru crap wiff all the TOs. The Run-On was intentional to demonstrate how a 'snowballing" affects flow,..and it's hard to stop.

>>FLF: AR appears to have "lost the locker room" and players are tuning out the messages from coaching. As bad performance piles up bad performance, one might expect a HC to "bench" individuals guilty of remarkably uninspired or boneheaded play. I haven't seen a benching. Looking back over AR's career in Philly, I am unable to think of any specific instance when AR actually benched a player. ( I do subscribe completely to the report that a phone call from the owner box got McNabb benched in Balt). Besides some tough cuts back in 1999, Reid has been pretty soft....

I think this has come back to haunt him in past several seasons. He is liked, loved...but not respected or feared as a HC.

>>Brizer: the offense played like crap last season, too. Peters was healthy then and the OL intact. Even the DL was racking up sacks. Not disputing that Peters is an irreplaceable talent on the OL, just observing that the dysfunctionality of the offense predates Peters achilles tendon.

There was (is) a real arrogance on the team--offense in particular--that they are supreme. Part comes by way of absolutely miraculous plays by Shady, Vick and Jackson--which have seized victory from the jaws of defeat. But, those have stopped happening since 2010. The offense is recognized by rival DCs and they know how to play Vick and DJax. Shady is under used--so MM does that for the rial defense.

the achilles tendon is just an injury to a key player

The O this year does share some similarities,..but far from all. The problems this year were exacerbated greatly by the loss of Peters. Vick's play last year was suspect and he vowed to improve. How did #10 play last year? How were our LBs,.and DB issues,..last year. You really can't compare the two teams w/o throwing out alot of caveats. Bottomline: What are you trying to say,..in one sentence? Just say it already,.yur beating around the bush.

>>Brizer: the KEYSTONE is Andy Reid has completely lost any objectivity and impartiality. And, Marty Mornhinweg and his inability to adapt the offense to the skills of the available players. And, I think Vick has been playing hurt all season...leading to his tentative play (running especially) and questionable decisions with some passes. And, Celek is having a particularly bad season with his hands of stone. And, firing Castillo sent what message to the team exactly?

BLEACHER REPORT-NEWS FLASH.

The Eagles, continuing a trend of firing people who aren’t necessarily the problem, have gotten rid of their PR man.

Apparently Juan Castillo couldn’t be fired again, so they dispatched senior vice president of communications Rob Zeiger Tuesday, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. His name was already removed from the team’s website Tuesday night.

Zeiger was the liason between owner Jeff Lurie, the front office and the media, the guy left to explain things to the public.

Neither the team nor Zeiger commented on the decision.

In many places, PR directors are long-term fixtures, but not in Philadelphia. Zeiger had just started in May 2011, and they had gone through three others in 10 years.

Call it a hunch, but we’re guessing he’s not the last high-level Eagles employee to leave before the start of next season.

Woody,..as anyone wiff a brain recognizes,...the die is castrated and Reid will not return. There's no point in conducting a circular argument here. There's no point in pointing fingers because ALL are culpable. I gave you the ultimate caveat in my Keystone post,...not forgiving anyone for how they did their job (Evergreen/coaches). From a personnel/football stance,..I offered my opinion on the keystone of failures,.and that was the Peters injury,.and the disturbing debacle on how difficult that was to replace him,.and how many other things that affected..."nuff said,.........GK.
