Hi Dave,

Just wanted to say i heard you on the live show say that the safeties problems can be attributed to the fact that they have too much gap responsibility.  I completely agree and i've been saying this since early last year as one of the major flaws of the wide 9 defense.  Its absolutely ridiculous that they continued to run this scheme going into this year.  I think that, along with the fact that reid ignored the offensive line depth in the pre-season, are the 2 main reasons why Reid should be fired.  you can't have an offensive minded coach making defensive decisions. it was never reid's forte.  He should of gotten an experienced defensive coordinator and let him install his scheme.  instead he made the decision to go with the wide 9 by bringing jim washburn in, and forced juan to build the defense around the wide 9 scheme. just like bowles is forced to use this scheme also.  ive always said- in wide 9 scheme there is no margin for any mental or physical errors.  worst defensive scheme in football.
