You mean Jared Allen and Mark Gastineau's record? Either way, he's got a legitimate shot. The kid is an animal. He looks like a seasoned vet the way he uses his hands to shed blockers.

He could break that totally bogus record but he won't get the real one (Coy Bacon's 26 in 1976) or probably even surpass Deacon for #2 ( 22 in 64' and 68'), with all 3 being accomplished in just 14 game seasons.

I remember when Todd Mcshay and other pundits called him a bit of a "reach" at 7. Hilarious. If you are sure someone is gonna be a beast just select them, who cares if others say guy X is better.

Also, Navorro Bowman lasting to the late 3rd and being as dominant as he is a punch in the gut. I LOVE seeing my PSU guys succeed in the nfl, but wish it were on the eagles. Wish we chose him. /sigh

Add in the fact he had 14 last year and did'nt even start for the most part, imagine if he broke Kearse's rookie record and Strahans single season sack record?

It' s impossible to compare eras though. Most of the articles I read about Deacon Jones credited him with 26 in 1967 and 24 in 1968 for a 2 year total of 50. We'll probably
never see anyone approach that 2 year level of dominance. The article you posted mentioned the head slap which is now illegal. What it didn't mention was O-Linemen
in that era couldn't extend their arms past the elbows.

We can only guess,but someone like Lawrence Taylor may have gotten 40 if the O-Linemen in his era couldn't extend their arms to  disrupt his pass rush. Rule changes
throughout the eras have made it a different game on offense and defense.

poor baby..everyone knows that, but a record is a record..how about that chick from UCONN about ten years ago who, while injured, was given a free layup at the start of a Villanova/UCONN women's basketball game to become the all time scorer or some BS like that? Is that bogus???

First of all at comparing women's college BBall to the NFL.

Secondly before that incident, Nykesha Sales and UCONN had both Nova's and the previous record holder (Bascom) permission to do it and Nova was given a free bucket to compensate.

And even in spite of those arrangements, she and both schools was still ripped mercillesly in the press for "blatantly compromising the integrity of the game", which is exactly what Farves lay down did to the NFL's.

But you're right, " a record is a record" and it's equally true that "a total BS record is a total BS record".

Aldon Smith and Von Miller are just going crazy on opposing QBs this year. I think Von Miller has been better the entire season as a whole though IMO. 5.5 of 15 came i 1 game though.
