Game 1 starter @ QB for Eagles and new head coach. And begin.....

1. Gruden / Alex Smith (Colin K. will unseat him and they will work out a deal with his new contract).

As long as they'd be making Smith a game manager, I'd be fine with it until we attempt to hit our next franchise QB.

Name that will probably be thrown around a lot in the NFL is Bill O'Brien. Did a hell of a job at PSU this year.

I actually do see Smith as a possibility. I'm not sure what they would want for him though, he really is in his prime.

If he would ditch Penn State after one year in this condition I would not want him as our coach.

Oh, I definitely don't want him as I'm a HUGE PSU fan. But his name will definitely be thrown around a lot. Surprised I haven't seen it around here more often, actually.

I think that the coach slot is wide open. I expect an extensive search of retreads, top assistants and college coaches. In the end, I think Lurie goes with what worked in the past and chooses an up-n'-coming assistant, Mike Zimmer, Hue Jackson, Winston Moss, that type of guy.

Either Foles or bring in someone who can do a decent job until they use our very high draft pick.

I want Brian Kelly from ND for coach and I'll let him decide on who the QB is going to be next season.

Head coach: David Shaw from Stanford

QB: Foles

I would be okay with the Shaw and Foles combo.

I don't think Kelly will ever leave ND. That's a dream job for a lot of coaches.

I know it is but dreaming about the Eagles getting Kelly as head coach is all I have left this crappy season.

Ugh, if Alex Smith comes, it better be short term....he sucks.Watching him play against the Giants in the Championship game last year was just horrific. He had so many chances to win that game late....

He's not gonna leave Penn State after 1 year.

I'd want Shaw too but I don't see him leaving Stanford any time soon.

My pick for this would be Winston Moss & Trent Edwards.

I think Edwards would be the transitional/stopgap QB while Foles develops.

HC and QB is so hard to tell.

QB - I think Foles will likely be projected as our starter but it is hard to say with the FA QB's on the market including Alex Smith and possibly Joe Flacco. I say bring in someone who can teach and also compete with Foles and let the better play. Then draft QB in 2014.

HC - This is a big ? A lot of different canidates out there from the NFL and some from the collegiate level. Whatever I guess is highly likely to be wrong but I guess that Lurie goes with an up and coming assistant from the NFL that has had success under other great HC's.

If Lurie's short history when it comes to coaching moves tells us anything, he's prone to go in the complete opposite direction of what's currently in place. When he fired Kotite he went with defense in mind when he hired Ray Rhodes. Rhodes brought Gruden in to run the offense. When he fired Rhodes he went with offense in mind and hired Reid who hired Jim Johnson to run the defense. I think Lurie's trend continues. He'll go with a defensive minded head coach who'll bring in somebody to run the offense. Here's where it's important, even though he'll have somebody to run the offense he's gotta be involved. He can't be like Rex Ryan and practically ignore the offense and not acknowledge the offense.

I'd rather want Kaepernick but Smith is a good fill in until we draft a franchise QB.

My prediction: Gruden/Vick

What I want: Gruden or Rob Ryan/EJ Manuel

I wouldn't even want Rob Ryan as our DC. I'd take his brother, but not him.  Ray Horton as HC, Norv Turner as OC or Childress and Bowles as DC  or Winston Moss as DC or Ron Rivera.  Restructure Vicks contract and keep for another year or see who wins open competition between the QB's.

i want no part of Alex Smith and there's no way the Ravens are letting go of Flacco.  he's got franchise tag written all over him if they can't work out a deal.

Not entirely true, that Saints playoff game last year was a shootout.

I hope the starter next season is Nick Foles. If Gruden is the coach the starter doesn’t matter anyway, because the guy will change quarterbacks at least 4 times in a season and maybe in the game. I want it to be Foles for a couple of reasons. One it means that Foles probably finished out the season looking halfway decent and Eagles can use this upcoming draft to pick players to improve the roster as a whole. I’m not foolish enough to think this team is going to be completely ready to compete without making some major changes. I also think this current quarterback class isn’t so hot so it may be better to get the quarterback later. I hope the coach is Sean Payton, and I hope he is allowed to put in whomever he needs to evaluate players for drafting and free agency.
