Week 11: Three keys to Eagles-Panthers
November 24, 2012, 9:00 am
Here are three keys for Monday night's matchup between the Eagles and Panthers.
1. Quick start
Get DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Brent Celek involved early. With LeSean McCoy out, I just don’t know if Bryce Brown and Dion Lewis can be effective enough to give the Birds a viable running attack.
2. Rattle Newton
Get after Cam Newton. The defense could desperately use a big game, and if they keep Newton from finding wide receiver Steve Smith, they increase their chances of getting off the field sooner rather than later. Trent Cole, Jason Babin and company have been missing in action for too long.
3. Solid special teams
This could be a low scoring affair, so special teams could figure into the outcome, especially the kicking game. Alex Henery has been outstanding as of late putting the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs. Also, Henery, who has made 17 of 18 field goal attempts this year, may be called upon to decide the Birds' fate in this one.
