I will lose all hope in this franchise if we draft a defensive lineman in either of the first two rounds this year

Um, how many sacks do we have this year? We need help getting QB pressure.

I don't know what the defensive scheme will be next year, but you could say the team doesn't have a LDE or NT in conventional 4-3 - plenty of holes if they move to a 3-4.

That's no reason to panic and start throwing at draft picks. It's one season where we're not getting pressure just one year after leading the league in sacks. It has to be a coaching problem

Its a coaching problem that Cole and Babin cant beat their guy 1on1? The Giants have showed that having a great D-Line can make your defense look better than what it is. Margus Hunt is a "freak" athlete. 82" wingspan, and run's a 4.6 in the 40. I think he's worth it.

My point is how do they go from leading the league in sacks one year and all of sudden can't beat a guy one on one? Age has very little if anything to do with it. One year doesn't make one go from 10 sacks to 1. They probably don't have the fire. Or the constant rotating throws them off, I don't know. Since we'll be picking at the top of the 2nd there should be much better players on the board.

The Bears are now 3rd in the NFC North and need a lot of help making the playoffs. The Bears continue to get owned by the Packers. Reportedly the Bears and Lovie Smith are not in talks to extend his contract. Sooo...

Add in a few things:

1 - Last offseason GM Jerry Angelo was fired and they brought in Emery from KC. This year was Lovie's chance to win the spot. Going 7-1 then missing the playoffs probably won't cut it. IMO Emery will move pretty quickly and fire him if they don't make the playoffs.

2 - He might take some time away from the game. Would like his defense, but there have still been gaps. He falls in love with players and throws other ones in the dog house for what appears to be random reasons.
