[CT Eagle]

Last week the Eagles fired Senior VP of Communications Rob Zeiger who was the liason between Lurie, the FO, and the media.

Today they fired Tim McDermott Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer.

I guess Lurie is looking for new people to put lipstick on this pig ?  I don't know how those guys performed on the jobs, but the only real way to improve marketing and media relations is to put a better team on the field and we all know which people have that responsibility.  Winning cures all ills.

Dave, I am sure your department is a bit on edge.  I truly think you do a great job and hope that whatever transition goes on with the franchise leads to opportunity and advancement for you.

Are you surprised?  Look at all the changes in Lurie's life over the past year.  His best friend leaves to buy the Browns, gets divorced, and now is cleaning house in the front office.  You can see that Andy is next.

I could see him sell as well.  I'm sure Lurie is already having them write up his end of the year speech and I'm sure it has some form of explanation as to why their keeping Reid as our coach.  He will throw the players performance and injuries out there as his reasoning as to why Reid stays.
  He'll say something along the lines of players are paid to make plays and coaches to coach and as part of his evaluation he's come to the conclusion that the major reason the reason the Eagles sucked is the players performance and lack there of making plays that they were in position to make and just flat out failed.
  HE will also use the injuries on the OL as to why the offense has underperformed compared to Reids past offenses performances and rankings each year.  He will then tell us why Howie will assume the roll of more of a normal GM and Reid will not have final say to all of the football operations. Blah n some more Blah.

Unless he needs to monetize the team because of the divorce, I don't know why he would sell his best asset.

I hear the Iraqi Minster of Information is looking for a job. He'd fit right in with Lurie's front office. You don't need marketing when you put a quality product on the field.

By the way, Lurie has been a tremendous owner. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

Reid is gone after this year. That was made clear by Lurie earlier this year.

It would be sad to see because he is a great owner.  Probably the best this team, maybe this city, has ever seen.  From the start of his tenure he has worked hard to connect with the fans and deliver a championship.

But if he does I understand given all the changes in his life.

The problem is price.  You are looking at $1 billion at least for the Eagles and very few people have that type of scratch to throw away.  There are very strict rules about debt limits so the franchise cannot be levered up.

I think it's another move being made on the business side that simply represents new president Don Smolenski putting his stamp on that part of the team.

The football operations side comes at season's end, most likely.
