Reid was good....just not good enough to reach the real goal.
As time passes, I think he will be looked on with fondness rather than disdain...that's just the way of things.
That said, a new era approaches, and I hope the results are better than the one that is ending.
My ability to asses the chances of that as a fan, will depend on what Jeffrey Lurie does at the GM position. I'm like a broken record, I know, but I believe the future of the Eagles rest quite heavily on that most important decision.
Dave- do you think Andy's Legacy is tarnished

Had he been fired after 2006 when it was painfully obvious that he won't change or adjust and that the team was never again going to compete legitimately for a Superbowl not only would his legacy be better off, but the team would have had a new coach with 4-5 years to succeed. If he didn't cut it after 2-3 years he'd be fired and we'd be on a 2nd replacement by now. Instead they've wasted time and the team is worse now than ever.
I've always felt after 2007 was when Reid and McNabb both should have been done here. Reid had proven that he learned absolutely nothing about the value of a strong ground game from the Garcia games by reverting to his failed scheme with McNabb in '07, and along with injuries flushed that season down the drain.
As you say, we would've been five years removed, and would at the very least have no less rings.

It doesn't matter who the next coach is. If he doesn't go 13-3 in his first season, many fans will cry about missing Reid, despite how bad he's been in recent years. The first time he loses a challenge, wastes a timeout, any lost game, if he doesn't run more than 20 times a game, etc. people will say "see, you wanted Reid fired?!"

Yep. I'll be absolutely fine with 1-2 years of rebuilding if it means we are on the right path, but I can already hear the national media cretins once again lecturing Eagles fans on how we "didn't realize how good we had it". You can pretty much bank on it.
The saddest thing is that true believers here will join right in the chorus, as if the last eight years produced nothing but unending success.
