NFC Pro Bowl kicking is currently held by Akers, who is having a bad year and is on his way to potentially being cut.

Quote

I suppose if you wanted to look at one position where an Eagle could have an argument, it's kicker, where David Akers is leading despite having a terrible season. He's hit on just 70.4% of his attempts this year, 2nd worst in the NFL. In fact, not only should Akers not be on the Pro Bowl roster, he may not even be on the 49ers roster for much longer. The Niners are auditioning kickers this week.

Meanwhile, Alex Henery has been the most accurate kicker in the NFC hitting on 20 of 21 attempts. He also has the 2nd most FGs made between 40-49 yards this season (9). Over the past 2 years, Henery is second only to Josh Scobee in terms of accuracy and last week he eclipsed Akers' own Eagles record of 17 straight FGs without a miss.

All that said, when your only real argument as far as Pro Bowl snubs is a kicker... that should tell you something about how bad things have been.

Henery deserves the Pro Bowl spot.

I was nervous about him coming into the season.  He had a rough preseason and then missed a huge kick against the Browns.  He's been great since then.

Two things I could care less about: kickers and the Pro Bowl.

He's going to be kicking FG's like crazy this year.

Ok- how many Game Winning or Overtime Forcing kicks did both guys make?

I don't care about quantity or length. I care about clutch kicking.

Kicking lots of FGs just means your offense sucks.

The team was never in a position to let him make a kick like that. When we've needed a field goal the guy has come through. I don't understand, what else could you want?

The point is he was never under any real pressure.

The guy who has more total game winning, tying and go-ahead kicks gets my vote.

I would think it's Akers. But I don't honestly know.

The only thing Akers has over Henery this year is his 63 yarder. Other than that, he's been average.

It has been nice to see Henery progress, last year I had my worries about his leg strength and range. He still hasn't been tested with those 48+ yarders but as long as our offense keeps him in range he will get it through. Kid has had a great year.

If you're talking about late in the game (halfway through the 4th quarter or later), then Akers has 1 game tying FG (33 yards) and Henery has 1 game winning FG (26 yards).
