I just don't understand how anybody can justify releasing Babin, 1) He's one of the better DE's in the league!! 2) If you are just heart set on getting your younger players more playing time, then why release him and not just bench him? 3) Why release him and take the CAP hit when you could just bench him and trade him after the season for easily a 3rd round pick or other good talent???

They decided to save money by cutting Babin now. I think by cutting him they saved something like 1.2 Million. They also want to give the young guys more playing time. Reid never liked Babin and apparently many of the other players didn't like him either. They were also trying to send a message.

Makes your whole post irrelevant. Even last year he wasn't brilliant, 18 sacks because he charges the QB every play and has absolutely no purpose to stop the run. This year he's been absolutely dreadful. There are a LOT of better DE's in this League. We probably wouldn't have got more than a late round pick and we saved some cap room. Good riddance.

There's been rumblings for weeks about his demeanor in the locker room and his antagonism with the fan base as well. So:
Expensive + Nonproductive + Miserable = Cut.
Expensive + Nonproductive + Miserable = Cut.

why not limit your idiocy to TATE instead of spreading it to every forum on the board?

Good luck to Jason in Jacksonville and let's hope these young DEs take advantage of the extra reps they will have in the coming weeks. I'm not sure what else I can add to this.

"after thinking about all the Twitter nonsense and hearing his reaction on ESPN to being cut, it is now clear that the Eagles cut the team leader in sacks this season and last for several reasons and I applaud the move. Good riddance. I will find out if it was Andy that actually made the decision or if it came from elsewhere. I know the fans want to know who is calling the shots given the uncertainty that the future hold for the organization."
