Today Monte Kiffin resigned from USC and this is what Lane said.
''I respect my father's decision and his desire to return to the NFL,'' Lane Kiffin said
I know he's old but he was a great DC  with Tampa and with Gruden. And he was well respected by Jim Johnson. He would be a major upgrade as our DC.

Guy is 2 days older than dirt. i don't think he would be coming back as a coordinator I think it would be more as a defensive consultant or something along those lines.

He resigned so his son didnt have to fire him.  USC defense was not good under this dude.

I don't want Gruden at all. Rather just keep Reid if Grudens the best we can do.

Gruden, Kiffin, and the rest of the 2002 Bucs will be honored at halftime for the 10th anniversary of their Super Bowl team when they play the Eagles. Lurie will also be in attendance.

In all fairness, he spent four years building the team he beat that year in the Super Bowl before they traded him.  A very cool story that not many people ever talk about.

Trading your coach just to lose to him in the Super Bowl right away...

And Amos Alonzo Stagg was how old when he was still a head coach?

I'm not totally loving Gruden, I'm thinking Lurie has an affinity for him since he was here working under Rhodes

grass is greener on the other side  maybe ?   But Please no Chuckie here  ,  I would almost even want Reid to stay at that point.

No love fest for me . . . although I think he'd be an upgrade over Reid. But sooner or later the players are gonna sour on the "Chuckie" thing like they did in Tampa. Unless he's modified his act somewhat. Might be worth it if no one else is clearly a better choice.

Gruden's going back with the Raiders (!), so there's no use worrying about him.

Kiffin was beyond useless as USC's defensive coordinator. Can his defense still work? Yes, but you need the right guys to fit the system, and he doesn't know how to alter a defense to the players.

Our front 7 is totally geared for the Tampa 2, our CB's are not

That may be true, but he still is a terrible idea for a guy to go after. Unless you like Reid style coaching where the system is never altered to increase effectiveness

And how many starting CBs could be out there to bring in anyways?
