i'm watching a lot of oriental films of late. palestinian, israeli, iran, afghan, lebanese. lots of jewels from countries that have no freedom of expression. sigh.

Also sad is that there is help available. The NFL has a 24 hour crisis hotline for current and former players and their families in distress. But of course, you have to want help, and pick up the phone and call. And hard to make that happen when the mind thinks there is no hope left. At least the NFL is doing something. Now they need to do more. Make sure EVERY player knows this is available.

Sad when a fine young man seems to have it all, yet views himself as having nothing. Just glad the NFL is trying somehow to reach these people. Would hope a tragedy like this makes them examine what they are doing and redouble their efforts. I know we cannot save them all, but stories of troubled players or ex-players are way too common. Trying to walk in the shoes of a Cheifs fan today. How would I feel if that had happened with one of our players? A 3-8 season to this point is demoralizing, and for some of them winning is all there is. A 1-10 season not much different, just a slight bit worse. Here's hoping I will never really have to find out.
