.......this time, with a few minutes left, from Michaels and Collinsworth.

Are these people incapable of commenting on Reid with at least a shred of respect shown towards this championship-starved fan base? I've never seen anything like it in sports.

It's almost a bizarre "farewell tour" of sorts - every network that has done Eagle games has gone through this ritual - talk about Reid as if he is a multiple championship coach, any comparisons done to Super Bowl winners, comment on his "winning a lot of football games", and if you're Brian Billick, state that "the Eagles will never find a better coach", which of course means we should all just jump off the cliff right now.

Collinsworth threw in a wacky new wrinkle tonight, saying that the fact that the NFL has become primarily a passing league vindicates Ried and proved he was right all along with his warped version of the WCO!

And then, of course, there's the inevitable "teams will be lining up" garbage about Reid. I say great, I can't f****ng wait. This clown has been a mediocre coach since 2004, and the franchise that overpays to bring him in will find out the hard way that he's not even the Reid we started with, but the Reid we ended up with.

I hope it happens next season, because that will eliminate the mind boggling possibility of Lurie somehow keeping him here in some manner.

michaels isnt bad, but i just hate collinsworth... he's a Fing clown and i hate almost everything about him calling games.

i have no idea why national media still has this love-fest for andy. things went downhill in 2010 and they've been that way since

The moment he uttered those words I envisioned this thread. :D

And of course you're completely right. Hell, the way the media talks Andy Reid is the greatest thing to happen to NFL coaching since Lombardi & Halas.

That line about him being vindicated because it's a passing league now really pushed me over the limit though. I mean, just wow.

It's too bad that the Eagles had their most success in the early 2000's when they didn't pass all the time.

Dave, I just hope whoever the next coach is or even if it's Andy for another year, that they realize that there might be something special with a RB duo of Shady and Bryce.  Shady with the quick, elusive running and Bryce with the power and good speed.  This team should lean on those 2 and then use the play action passing off that.  In other words, reverse what we've been doing.....run more and throw less to create a balance.

Remember early 2000's when we had guys like Westbrook, Buckhalter and even Duce Staley running the rock.  We dont have WR's that are big enough or physical enough to be throwing it 60% of the time.  Look at teams that are pass happy like GB and New Orleans and see how big some of their receivers are.  Unless we pick up a bigger target at wideout, we need to get a 2 headed monster going at RB.

I was done by the 4th quarter.... I quit along with the rest of the coaching staff and team.

The only players giving any sort of effort are young guys who are hoping to make an impression on tape. Why Reid keeps marching Nnamdi, DRC, Coleman and Nate Allen out there is beyond me.

Its time for the Reid sideshow to end.... immediately. He can fire every coach he wants.... but he set all of this up and does not deserve any ridiculous send off from Nat'l media.

Its nauseating

You really can't make this stuff up.

Yeah, I thought they had mined the depths in these eulogies, when Collinsworth decided to go the 'sage' route with regard to Reid's offensive 'approach'.        Original, to say the least.

I actually expected a lot worse last night,

there was really only that one bizarre moment where Collingsworth acted like Reid was a genius for never running the ball.

there wasn't as much "be careful what you wish for Philly!!1" nonsense as I expected

Most of these guys never won anything as coaches/players themselves. Steve Mariucci never won jack, got to the playoffs and was booted out. Chris Collinsworth fumbled the Superbowl away. Chris Carter never won anything. Sean Sailsbury, Merril Hodge, on and on...career losers. To these people, winning division titles and such meant a lot because they never won anything else, yet they get on TV and are all of a sudden "experts" and we are just dumb fans to them (x's 10 for Philly).

Its a simple formula for them, bunch of wins + Reid = great coach. All they see is that, they don't see anything else, or they will say "the Eagles suck at this" but won't blame Reid for it, it will be someone else's fault. Add into that Reids 14-year lifespan, he probably has all these guys wrapped around his finger.

It's really tough finding a coach these days that's employed for 14 seasons by the same team and hasn't won a Super Bowl. I'm sure the Eagles can manage to equal Reid's futility in winning the big game without him.

I won't watch another game with reid on the sideline.  I'll still post on the site, but I don't care much about the games.

Thanks for the opinions. To answer the one question, yeah, I certainly hope that the coaching staff knows how unique and talented this RB group is. Could be very special

Given this team's current skillset, it certainly makes sense to run the ball. They have 2 stud running backs, and it's a big strength.

Of course, once Foles can handle the entire playbook, the run will go the way of the Dodo Bird in the Eagles offense.

Could also be very unheard of for them to even acknowledge it beyond the usual blather.
