You know, I always hated the fact that we took a kicker in the fourth round of the draft, but this kid is money. Best part is kickers have a long shelf-life. This kid is going to be a great point scorer for the Eagles for a long time.

Very solid?  WTF. Does he have to do to rate better?  That the highest percentage in NFL history for the first 50 kicks.

I remember him missing an easy kick against 49s last year which would have put us in playoffs and who know how the world would be if we went to playoffs last year.

Because all those kicks he missed came in crucial moments that could have won us games.

I still don't like him but I'll give him a lil credit.

He was a rookie last year. Kickers miss kicks. It's how they come back that matters and this kid is money.

What are you talking about?

The only missed FGs that ended up costing the Eagles were last year against the 49ers, a game which the Eagles probably still win if Maclin doesn't fumble. His two other misses are a 63 yarder at the end of the first half against Atlanta (a game the Eagles still would've lost even if he made it) and a 45 yarder against Cleveland that didn't cost the Eagles anything.

I haven't noticed too many opportunities for that where we elect to punt instead ... I think the drives are stalling before a reasonable distance for a long kick.

That's true, but he has hit a 53 and a 51 for certain. Just because he hasn't had the opportunity, doesn't mean he can't. I recall the majority of Akers kicks being from the 30-40's yard range too.

It's not that they baby him, they just get close enough to the endzone to give him some breathing room. That's kind of the point of an offensive drive (not trying to sound condescending - you obviously know that).

He'll go down as one of the best draft picks in the past decade, if not in team history.

Seriously, this kid was the most accurate kicker in NCAA history, and so far he's the most accurate kicker in NFL history.

That 49ers game he missed like,what,2 or 3 field goals? And one of them was a chip shot.

OK - so that was his big bad game as a rookie.

Since then he's basically been perfect.  Literally.  Almost perfect.

I know right? What's the difference between college football and NFL football? Not much. I never understood how a college stud could be a professional bust when there is NO difference between the college and the pro level. I agree 100%.
