Based on what the "experts" are saying, there is a shortage of QBs in this draft and none of them merit a pick in the top 5.

If that is the case, does it work to our advantage or not?

Pros:
- Allows us to double down on Foles and give him real room to grow as a leader
- Frees us to choose best available athlete who fits our glaring need areas (O line)
- No drama or manufactured controversy until the draft regarding who our QB would be
- Ability to trade down and haul good players on a roster that has multiple holes

Cons:
- A top 5 QB selection gives us a bona fide "face of the franchise" and someone to build around for years to come
- If Foles isn't the answer, we'll be in QB hell for another few years (see Cleveland, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Buffalo)
- Prevents the new coach from starting over and using Foles as a solid backup
- A top QB could galvanize the franchise the way it's played out in Seattle, Washington and Indy (playoff contenders in season 1)

If we can identify/cultivate Fole's ceiling, more focus could be on secondary/Oline.

I've come to terms with it as long as the Eagles don't try to reach for one.  Build the team in this draft and let's see if foles is the franchise QB.  If he's not, then either the eagles have a top pick to get a QB in 2014 or they bet the house on a franchise QB in 2014 or 2015 by trading some extra talent and picks to move up in the draft.  As the patriots unfortunately prove, the league is aout bulind though good long term picks in the draft.

its bad. Because it in no way could hurt us. If we want/need a QB than we could have him, if not we could trade back for a primo price and set ourselves up nicely for next april

It's fine for the Eagles. Not perfectly ideal, though.

Works well for Philly so they can focus on a bigger need. Foles has it in my opinion, and needs time to show it.

It's a horrible situation to be in.

Common sense tells us that, since there isn't a franchise QB, we can address another position with the pick, or better yet, trade down with a team that is even more desperate for a QB and get more picks.

However, my biggest fear is that whoever our new coach is, he'll be desperate to get a guy behind center and reach for Barkley or someone like that who'll end up being the next Blaine Gabbert, Kyle Boller, or Jake Locker.

I wish there were a franchise QB in the draft.  That way, he would be picked before the Eagles and all the other players would slide down one spot.

But, let's wait for the predraft workouts to begin before we say that no QB is going top 5.

nobody is saying that. People are saying that Geno Smith isnt a franchise QB. I think most expect him to go top 5 though

Foles has lots of intangibles and hasn't disappointed me yet there though it's just the start. You have the people that love the run and gun of QBs like Vick, McNabb, etc and those that love the deep passing offense Andy/Marty have installed much of the time so they point out Foles weaknesses for those types of offenses.

Foles stepped up into the pocket, took hits, threw the ball away, threw decently on the run.

I'd say today you build on defense and the oline most likely.

Hey, AJ decided to stay another year. Should we wait for his official NFL entry:) LOL....another BAMA flop. He knows he won't  drafted so stick around another year, Those car dealership sales jobs are always coming up........:) Just curious how many of the BIG NAME Bama stars are making immediate impact.?????????? But I will say I think Bama beats Notrre Dame in the BCS=ND can't compete with the standards 0f accepting idiots from JUCO colleges or SAT's equivalent to low double digits. You know it's true. Let's just sit back and watch the Bama flops!

Corner and safety need to be the first two picks in the draft.

I think that someone will blow up the combine, pro days, or workouts.  Ultimately, QB needy teams will reach for a QB.  I still think that Barkley will be a first round pick...we'll see how high he goes.

Who cares about the so called draftniks.  If a team deems a certain player a top 5 pick they take him.  I don't WANT the Eagles to draft a QB with the top 5 pick, but if they WANT to, they will.  Nobody WANTED AR to draft Donovan over Ricky W., but he did, and we seemed to do "alright" with him.  Geeze, so narrow minded.  I trust Lurie will put the right people in place to pick a solid guy.

He's got a rag arm. Good intangibles, though.

Geno Smith has no arm strength… And everybody wants this guy? What's up with this draft class.
