Eagles sign DB Whitley to practice squad

The Eagles made another personnel move Wednesday, signing defensive back Eddie Whitley to their practice squad. They had a void to fill after signing wide receiver Marvin McNutt last week from the practice squad.

Whitley was recently released from the 49ers’ practice squad, where he spent two separate stints. With San Francisco, he was playing safety. The 6-foot, 191-pound Whitley played free safety in his college career at Virginia Tech. He originally signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent.

Whitley puts the Eagles' practice roster back at eight, as he joins tight end Derek Carrier, wide receiver B.J. Cunningham, fullback Emil Igwenagu, linebackers Ryan Rau and Nate Stupar, guard Julian Vandervelde and tackle Matt Reynolds.
