It's still mostly about the QB

True, Reid's coaching changes the last couple of years have been bonehead. And his other deficiencies have been well documented.
That being said, if you look at the Eagles fortunes during Reid's reign, for the most part, they parallel the job that his QB's have done. In the early years, McNabb (and Reid deserves credit for drafting and developing McNabb) was healthy and could carry a franchise on his back. The peak was the 2004 SB year.
When McNabb got injured in 2005, the Eagles were never the same. True, he did recover, and the Eagles were still a playoff team for the most part, but not the dominant team they were.
After McNabb was dealt away, the team took another step down. Only one playoff appearance with no playoff wins and declining play in each of the past two years - coincidentally, coinciding with progressively worse quarterback play.
Morale of the story - while there's been much talk about replacing the head coach, this team needs desperately to find its quarterback of the future who can win games deep into the playoffs. Is Nick Foles the guy? Time will tell, but at best, I would think he needs at least a couple of years to develop.

I think it all starts with the QB, I mean look how better RG III and Andrew Luck has made their teams, both teams are in the playoff hunt. But QB's like RG III and Luck and Cam Newton do not come every year. After this season if we even have the slightest hesitation that Foles may not be our guy then we need to draft our QB of the future in 2014. Without "that guy" you are going no where near a Lombardi trophy.

Duh. It's the only position that matters.

Andy knew Vick was a terrible passer, every fan knew that. So what does Andy do? Nothing really. He still calls 50 passes a game when he has one of the best RBs in the NFL. McNabb made up for a lot of Reid's faults when he was healthy. Vick is not good enough to do that.

We picked the wrong year to suck - a year too late.

To be fair there's a lot more changes to those teams than Luck and Griffin. Luck has not played particularly well at all actually. That rookie class as a whole though is making plays when they need to and they're schedule would make any team look pretty good.
Now RG3 on the other hand has played great and has had a much tougher schedule than Luck, but the difference in the redskins is much more than him. Morris has been stellar, RG3 has been protected very well, and they're getting major contributions from a lot of their rookie and sophomore players.
The reality of the NFL is yes, the QB is the most important player on the field but it's not all about the QB.Good QBs behind crap lines fail 90+% of the time. Good QBs with crap weapons fail 90+% of the time and good QBs with crap defenses fail 90+% of the time.

let's be fair. It was the same deal with McNabb. It used to drive me nuts when McNabb would throw a screen pass and it would be down below the knees of Duce, Bucky, or Westy. McNabb had a great long-range arm, but when it came to dinking and dunking, he was the worst.

Can't argue with this. But remember in McNabb's first 4 years they ran a much more balanced offense. Remember the 3 headed monster? That changed when TO came along. Reid has gotten away from what made him successful in the early days. He could make things much easier for a young QB but seems too stubborn to realize it.

More so later in his career. I don't remember his accuracy being as much of an issue when he was younger. I think when his legs started to go all his timing and everything else went with them.
