How long has he been involved with the Eagles?
Since I believe 2000. And he has held many positions in the organization.
This notion that he CAN'T be a good GM is incredible. Obviously the fans that believe that have no or very little business savvy.
As a GM for the Eagles, like almost EVERY GM in EVERY business, here are his MAIN requirements.
He needs to be able to delegate authority properly.
He needs to be able to locate the proper people for said delegated positions.
He needs to be able to make tough decisions without concern for his job.
He needs to locate and make proper decisions for his superiors.
And he needs to step up and take charge in a room under any circumstances.
Now does he have all those requirements ?? Us as fans would have ABSOLUTELY ZERO CLUE.
What we can know is,,,,,, has he TRIED to bring in the best people for the required positions that were needed. And to date the answers are mostly yes with some wrong moves. And for fans that don't know. Just like fans that make mistakes EVERY day of their lives, so do GMs.
But what we do know is that Roseman has had some input into locating coaches and players along with the draft over the last 3 years. Oddly, the VAST MAJORITY of his moves were applauded by the fans when they were made.
Here are some
of Rosemans dealings he was involved with since 2010. To what degree we will never know, but as GM he OBVIOUSLY had some input into them.
1 - Hiring what was perceived as the best special teams coach in the NFL in Booby April.
*** I don't know of a single person that didn't think that was a great hire.
2 - Hiring what was perceived as the best OL coach in the NFL in H.Mudd.
***again I don't know a single person that had an issue with that.
3 - Hiring what was perceived as the best DL coach in the NFL in J.Washburn.
*** now besides me there were a small small minority of people that didn't like that move. But the vast majority loved it.
4 - Hiring what many fans thought was 1 of the top DB coaches in the NFL that some thought should have been the DC, not Juan in hiring T.Bowles.
*** again, besides me, I don't know of a single fan that had an issue with that hire. Fans LOVED it.
5 - Signing C.Jenkins as a free agent - fans LOVED it. For the record I was luke warm on it.
6 - Signing J.Babin - somehow the majority of fans LOVED it. Which scares me that sooo many fans LOVED that move.
7 - Signing Nnamdi brought this fan base to its knees with joy and excitement.
8 - Signing V.Young - while not the joy the fans had with the other moves, there were still plenty of fans that loved that move. Some eveb thought he should start. Which was rather comical.
9 - Signing of R.Brown - again fans, experts, media and anyone else related to football thought it was a great move.
10 - Shipping Kolb off to the Cards for DRC and 1 2nd rd pick was considered the steal of the century by LOTS of fans and media people.
The list is endless of the moves that were made since Roseman became GM in early Jan. of 2010 that fans loved. Yes, we have ZERO CLUE as fans as to what part he played in those signings. But the fact is he is the GM. He had some say in it.
Now that almost every single move that was made that almost EVERY SINGLE FAN LOVED didn't work, he's an idiot and not qualified ????
