You have no sympathy for a 25 year old kid that just died? So he made a bad decision in getting in a car with a drunk driver, but that decision shouldn't condemn him to die. You're being incredibly harsh here.

I never said I am glad he died, but I have no sympathy for him because he put himself in that situation. It isn't any different than someone getting killed hanging out with a drug dealer. Regardless if they were doing drugs, selling them, or just hanging out some place during the wee hours of the night, you know the guy is bad news so you stay away from him. It's called common sense.

You honestly have no sympathy for him? What a heartless piece of ish you are. Stop using analogies to rationalize your terrible lack of compassion. What a smug piece of ish...I try very hard not to get worked up on a message board, and it's all fun and games when it comes to football...and then I run into people like you, all holier than thou and ish...
You SHOULD have sympathy for the kid, it's your moral imperative as a human.

He doesn't need to call a cab, there's a free service provided by his employers that is specifically designed to prevent morons like him from making such decisions...and even with his history with driving under the influence, and even with him having done time and a probationary period, he chose to make the same mistake again. And this time, it cost a young man his life and a family their son. And he'll carry the weight of actions with him for the rest of his life.

Had he crossed the street at a red light, and some driver hit him I would feel nothing but sympathy for him. Not gonna feel sorry for someone that knowingly gets in a car with someone that's been heavily drinking that night. Especially considering he makes more than enough money to call a cab, friend, family, or get a hotel room within walking distance of where he was.

I understand what you're saying and it was a stupid decision, but keep in mind that guy was probably drunk too and got in the car with a drunk driver. It wasn't like he hit a sober driver or a sober person walking in the street. I doubt he gets 20 years or anything. Both are bad choices, that's all this comes down too. Just bad choices. When I drank I would keep the taxi number in my phone, and always have some money tucked in a pocket for a cab. I don't understand why this happens so often to pro athletes.

You're view of this situation is incredibly simplistic. I don't know how old this kid was, but I'd assume he was in his 20's. If you're telling me you didn't do some stupid things in your 20's, then you're a very rare breed. Everybody does stupid things, not everybody dies for it.

He makes a valid point. The drunk driver didn't hit a sober driver, or someone walking. The only person hurt was someone who was also drunk and willingly got in the car. That makes a huge difference. It's really sad but don't pretend that this guy is as big a victim as someone who's completely sober and gets wrecked by a drunk driver. It's just not the same thing. Sorry to break it to you. It's just not. I feel bad for both of them for being stupid. Wish they would have used that free taxi service.

Well I can't force you to feel bad for anybody, but the bottom line is one young man is dead, and another young man will have to live with this haunting him for the rest of his life. Sure, they both Fed up, but it doesn't make them bad people deserving of something like this happening.

I can't believe how pedantic the internet has made some people...they have to have an opinion about every f'ing thing. The kid made a mistake, it wasn't worth getting killed over. You guys cross your arms and decide that you have no sympathy because he made a mistake. good lord

Exactly. This guy is not some mask murderer. He made a mistake. He'll get his six months, his year long suspension and he'll be back in the NFL in a year or two if he gets in shape. Hopefully he finds jesus or something and doesn't drive drunk anymore.

I'll say again though their should be much harsher penalties for drunk drivers. The driver had already done this before and got caught and I'm assuming didn't hurt anyone that time. He got lucky. He also probably got lucky several times in between now and then because he didn't take it seriously enough and now he cost another person their life and he has to live with that. And again as an NFL player he has no excuse whatsoever. I have a problem with drunk drivers as it is but especially if you are provided with a FREE car service use it. The NFLPA provides one and I'm sure the Cowboys are one of those teams that provide their own. Jerry is used to dealing with troubled players so I'm sure he provides that service.

Don't single out athletes then. Go down to your local bar and sit in the parking lot at 2am and watch drunk idiot after drunk idiot drive off. It happens every day.
