I miss Trott, more than I miss Dawk.

I won't miss Aso though, whenever we dump his a**.

It's a shame they had some of their worst games in the friggen playoffs.
I will forever be pissed at them for coming up soo small in crunch time so often

But...but..but that was all Mcnabb or Reid's fault?

Agreed.

If JJ doesn't insert Trott into the lineup, we don't go to the Super Bowl.

Every time I hear or see Trotter and Dawkins names these 3 things haunt me.

1 - the 2008 NFCCG when the Cards and Warner threw 4 tds and had only 7 incompletions that day as Dawk and the rest of the secondary got itch slapped all over the field. Our team leader that day (Dawkins) was probably the weakest of the bunch.
2 - the debacle that Dawkins and Trotter were against the Saints in the playoffs in 2006. All I can see is McAllister running over both those guys like they were little kids in the 2nd half. I believe the Saints ran for over 200yds that day and most were right up the middle
3 - the debacle Dawkins and Trotter were in the 2nd half of the SB as C.Dillon gave us a prelude to what McAllister would do 4 years later.

Listen, I get they were good players (well Dawk was great),, but man they sure picked the worst times to have bad games. And those 3 games Dawkins was nothing short of brutal and the 2 games Trotter was worse then brutal.
Yet somehow everyone got blamed for those losses but those 2. Never understood that.
Sorry folks, all 3 of those games were lost becuase of the poor defensive play. And they were led by Dawkins and Trotter.

That's debatable. Aside from the Pitt game, we were rolling through our schedule before he was put in the lineup, and the NFC in general was not that strong that year.

I do believe bringing him back ended up being our biggest FA signing that year though.

Again, especially Dawkins,, I'm not taking anything away from him. He gave us lots of great games. And was a great player and better get to the HOF.
But man. He was soo bad those 3 games.

I'd point far more to darwin walker.  that dude was on roller skates every game.  Could not hold the point of attack at all!!  Vacate his gap, instant 5ypg for the opposing RB.

Umm no. Nnamdi held him to 1 catch the entire game, then they switched the coverage by putting DRC or a safety to cover him 1v1 and that is when he racked up all those yards.

I agree that Trott and Dawk weren't perfect. I'll even agree that they were part of our big game disappointments. But they were both warriors, leaders, great players,  they cared as much as we did, and they were courageous. After watching this team for 45 years, give or take, they are the last on my list to **** about. We should have beat Tampa, that was our year, and we didn't because of Banner's penny pinching and Reid's game day inadequacies. Gruden killed him.

You can say that if you like. But I prefer to cite Chad Lewis. Without his career-ending catch in the end-zone against Atlanta the Eagles don't get to the Super Bowl. Just my opinion.

I've never understood the over the top love for Trotter. He was a decent LB, had a couple good years, but overall nothing special. He was extremely one dimensional, could stop the run OK sometimes but horrible against the pass. He was a "guess and hit hard" linebacker. If he guessed and hit the right hole, he stuffed the RB. He also guessed wrong a lot.

Then he whines when he gets franchised, leaves for more money and flops in Washington, then comes crawling back.

It is true that Dawkins and Trotter came up small in the big games. But the basic problem with AR is that he misjudged their leadership skills and impact on the defense. In neither cae did the FO and AR replace them with players of their stature, skills and leadership intangibles. The same goes for Hugh Douglas, after he left there was a void on the DL until Cole came on board. Players like Trotter, Dawkins and Douglas gave the Eagles Heart and Attitude and AR replaced them with luke-warm uninspiring players.

In each case there were nasty contract problems which caused those players to leave and their loss has resonated throughout the team to this day.
