I get your happy but we needed the win like we need a VD.  When you cannot make the playoffs and possibly win a championship it is time to retool. That means play yonger guys and see what you have for the future. Winning is pointless. You shouldn't try to lose but losing does improve draft position.

What do you think we have been doing?  We've been playing the younger guys for several weeks now.

The game yesterday did nothing to affect our draft position - we are still picking 4th if the season ended today, same as last week.  At the same time, these guys are showing improvement & gaining confidence.

You mean guys like Foles, and Bryce Brown and McNutt and Johnson and Cox and Curry and Anderson (I'm sure I missed a couple of other names there)?

Isn't that what's happening? What happens when those young guys win? Should everyone be pissed? The win yesterday didn't alter our draft position as it stood before the game.

I'm not sure it would matter if it did, what college player out there is worth losing the next 3 games to get that we probably wouldn't otherwise get if we won the next 3 games?

Come draft day, I'll want the highest picks possible and will probably wish we had done worse during the 2012 season. Right now, in the season with the draft 4 or 5 months away, I only care about the games. I'm an Eagles fan so I can't root for them to lose and can't be happy when they do.

The draft will be what it will be. My pleasure or displeasure, rooting for wins or losses won't alter that in the least little bit. Nothing in this world that I do, say or pray will alter anything that happens with, to or for the Eagles. So why not just be a fan and be happy when they win and be pissed when they lose?

What do I or the Eagles gain (or lose) by doing the opposite?

Did the draft order even change? We might have like the 5th pick now instead of the 4th. It's not like we dropped out of the top 10

CT,

You're being an asshat. You insult Dave for the article he writes. You insult the people who read his pieces, assuming that we're swallowing his one perspective uncritically. Everyone in this forum, Dave included, remembers Hoying and Kolb's electric starts in the league. We recall that Tampa's secondary is a joke. No one was crowning Foles "Next."

Pardon the French, but stop sh-tting where you play. If you weren't miserable when you posted, I'd hate to be in the room when you were down.

Well, if you are really really really excited about Foles development then good for you.  After being force fed Kolb and then burned by VIck I will keep my enthusiasm in check for a bit.  Knowing who the coach will be and the OC will be and what type of scheme the team is running will impact Foles dramatically.  I hope it works out.  I am actually optomistic.  Really really really exctied ? NO

Nobody is trying to make you really really really excited, just saying that ****ting on someone else for being that excited and claiming to be outraged by that excitment is odd and crazy.

To be fair here, the thing CT is taking issue with is the line from Dave's article that says "it's fine to be really really really excited about his development after 4 starts". That completely bypasses the win on Sunday & starts the spin in motion for next year.

Yes, it's fine to be excited they won on Sunday. Even really really really excited they won. But it's bad practice to be that excited about his development after just 4 starts. Be hopeful, be optimistic. But if you get crazy excited you may be doing so at your own peril. We've certainly seen that one before.

Thank you for clarifying my point.  Clearly HB either missed it or was trolling.
The question now is how Foles' development will impact or the search for a new HC/OC ?

No, HB was going by your specific comments that claimed what Dave wrote about Foles "hit a nerve" and was a "slap in the face" to fans, which I think is just a totally over the top emotional reaction to just the phrase "really really excited". That is all. Not one person so far has shown the inclination to label Foles the next "guy" so its not like any FO brainwashing is going on. Pretty much everyone expects the Eagles insider to write like that when an Eagles player has a good game.

Not sure I'd string three of the same adverbs together to express emotion. But I'll take the rays of hope where presented. I'm not betting the farm on Foles and haven't ordered his jersey. But I see potential and I takes some degree of pleasure in that, even though I see the old order crumbling.

I'm not "really really really" excited about Foles either but I don't see the need to crap on people who are.

You are missing the point.  This is about an Eagles franchise that has been a major bust despite all the hype and bravado coming from Lurie and the rest of the organization.  Saying it is fair to be really really really excited about Foles development, is really really really ignoring the history here and really really really ignoring the bigger picture.
-Had there been a EMB back in the day, you would have seen the same quote about Bobby Hoying

It was just one example of a franchise that has hyped itself for years without delivering results.

We get your point CT. No one is saying they agree with Dave that its "fair to be really really really excited". No one disagrees with you at all which is why you don't see other EMB posters trying to cram Foles down your throat. Just the level of outrage over a guy hyping an Eagles player whose whole job is to hype the Eagles is just seems really over the top. You've damn near implied it was dishonest reporting. Get a grip dude, its just a sports piece about an Eagles player written by an Eagles insider. That's all I'm saying. I get it doesn't help when the season and the state of the franchise looks like the crap it does, and then you have Dave writing about the "excitement" over a player. lol. Trust me, I feel you. There's a piece on the internet right now about the Eagles once again getting "hot" when its too late. Apparently one game win streak is "heat" these days. But whatever. I feel you CT, seriously. But this is Dave's job. Try to be cool.

All businesses hype their product, even if it's not very good ... otherwise, they'd be out of business.

I am sure that all franchises hype themselves; we only pay attention to the hype of this franchise.  Do you go onto other NFL teams' websites & read their Insider info.?  I'd imagine not.  We are tuned into Dave & his crew because we are passionate about this team.

If he used just two "really"'s you wouldn't have your panties in a bunch, CT?

Quite frankly, I might upgrade my "really index" after reading this: http://boards.philad...an-his-numbers/

Again, not crowning him "next", but that was an encouraging read.
