Talk About the Eagles..

It's kinda funny. We lose 8 straight, and TATE is fine. Playoffs are out of the question.Everyone agrees the team sucks. All is well.
We win our first game in two months on a clutch, game winning drive by a rookie qb, with only 2 out of 11 starters on offense, against a team who can potentially make the playoffs and who needs to win...
... and Tate goes nuts. "Foles is a franchise QB!", ""No, Foles is a piece of ****!", "Suck it, Vick nut hugger!", "F you, Nickfolian Dynamite fart box tongue puncher.."
Chill guys..
Can't it just be a good game by a rookie qb? Can't it just be a step in the right direction for his development?
Call it like it is. Nick Foles is a rookie qb, making some rookie mistakes, but also improving each game and developing nicely, so far..
Why does there always have to be a dichotomy? Why can't we just be happy for the kid and see how it goes?
Oh... I think I answered that question in the thread title.. my apologies..

You must be a Vick hater. Or a FO nut hugger. Or not a "real fan." Something!

Because A LOT of people jumped to our team as Vick fans, and not really Eagles fans. This is why there is such division because you have the Vick fans falling over themselves backwards at the demise of their favorite player and since the back up QB is the person who is going to take his job, they want the Eagles to much worse off when Vick leaves as that would give them some satisfaction as they go buy another Vick jersey when he's on another team next year.
At least that's the way I see it. . .

I'm not saying everyone who supports Vick is that way but there have been a TON of fans who made the crossover to the Eagles after Vick's superman year. . . .
Why else would there be such divide about a guy who has only been here for 3 years and 1 winning season?

Only Kolb and Garcia but nothing to this level. . .the guy has been around for 2 losing season while McNabb had been there and done everything but win a Super Bowl. . .how people feel so compelled to hang on to this guy is unexplainable if people are really putting the team before the player.

The fact is, fans will flock to a team when they see a player they like or when the team enjoys success (see Vick in 2010), and other fans will defend players vehemently even when the majority of others think it's undeserved (see Kolb.) It's not like it didn't happen when McNabb started to gain fame or players like Dawk and Trot emerged. Heck, the whole reason I started watching the Eagles, more so instead of my hometown team, is because of players like Randall and Reggie. Did that mean that "I put the player before the team" and became a Packers or Cowboys fan after they left? Unfortunately not.

People were divided because McNabb just rubbed people the wrong way for whatever reason and the scheme changing to a more conventional WCO Which was and is much more effective for whatever reason. Sure the backup QB is going to be the most popular guy on the team but, and yes I know many were critical of McNabb before 04 for whatever ridiculous reason considering he had NOTHING around him offensively except an OL but that's his fault I suppose too.
At least McNabb had done SOMETHING here outside of one season and wasn't some 30+ year old QB still trying to learn some basics of how to play the position. People clamor to Vick "the highlight reel" which he just isn't anymore.
This has been one of, if not the, most divisive QB controversy in the AR era. . .and it's only made worse that a rookie is actually more fundamentally sound than a 10+ year vet.

He was good, but only soo good. Thats when I started believing that we should be looking elsewhere.
as far as Vick goes...
I dont like him as a person, BUT what he did in early 2010 made a believer out of me until.....
Perry Fewell showed the entire NFL world that Vick cant pick up pre snap reads on Blitzes.... and for two offseasons we keep hearing how Vick is working on that, and it doesn't improve. I gave up on him at the beginning of this season ....
Moving on...... Foles, I was and still am a bit skeptical, but so far the kid is winning me over... hope he keeps that up, though I expect he will stumble along the way. I just hope he progresses overall..

I think this thread would be a lot more popular if half of TATE wasn't googling dichotomy.

I understand your point that at least some of the McNabb fans were justified in that he was a proven winner, but it's more simple than that when it comes to debates like this. The fans of the veteran QB simply think he gives the team the best chance to win and is still better than the new kid on the block at that point in time, regardless of what he had proven and how many years he had been with his current team.
