Interviews (Assuming Ray Horton takes over Arizona)
Most of us agree this team is not the place for a retread such as Gruden, Billick, Cowher, ect
Mike Mccoy - Up and coming offensive mind. Helped turn Kyle Orton into a legitmate threat, transformed an offense last second to fit Tebow's needs. Now boasts one of the league's best units with Manning at the helm.
Gus Bradley - A Monte Kiffin protegee, rebounded after a rough first year as DC to turn Seattle into a top 7 defense each of the past 2 seasons with a tenacious pass rush and top notch secondary.
Chip Kelly - Like him as a college coach, not the right fit for this team. Won't hurt to give him an interview
Perry Fewell - Giants defense has fallen off a bit since their Superbowl run, but he is a respected coordinator and has a Super Bowl on his resume.
Mike Zimmer - Transformed the Bengals into a very respectable defense. Alot of people view him as a great coordinator, not necissarily great head coaching material. Not much of a motivator or vocal leader. Could be why he was passed over in Miami.
Staff
HC - Mike Mccoy
OC - Norv Turner
Turner knows his time as a head coach is up and can focus on what he does best, developing young Qb's. Shurmer could be a candidate as well
DC - Jim Tomsula
Helped establish 49ers Dline contributing to one of the stingiest defenses of the past decade. Personality screams Philly
ST - Larry Izzo - Anyone watching Giants games lately can tell that their special teams play is on another level as of late. Was a former Pro Bowler for his special teams play with New England
Switch to 3-4 Defense
Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry were all projected as standing rush linebackers in their respective drafts. As was suprisingly Trent Cole. Cole is very similar to Tambi Hali. Both a bit undersized, Cole ran a faster 40 and is probably stronger. Haili transitioned perfectly to the linebacker position and saw his sack numbers increase, Cole can do the same. Fletcher Cox is best served as a 3-4 end as well.
Early Cuts
Michael Vick - Self explanitory, he is not in our future plans. Thanks for an exciting/inconsistant 3 years
Cullen Jenkins - Due 6.5 million, was a candidate to be cut last year before restructuring. At 32 years old he will not be in the teams long term plans as we aim for a rebuild.
Demetrius Bell - Get him as far away from the team as possible..no cap hit is a plus
Mike Patterson - 8 seasons as an Eagle you can say he was a successful late first rounder, but he can't be relied on to play a full season, and his play and production has taken a dive.
Restructure Nnamdi Asomugha
Do Not Resign
Akeem Jordan - A solid player, not a spectacular starter. With the 3-4 in place he becomes expandable.
Derek Landri - Solid veteran, but can be easily replaced with a late draft pick
Jake Scott - see FA
Resign
D.R Cromarti - He played inconsistant at times, but had a string of very good games. At 26 his best football is hopefully ahead of him. 4years 18million
King Dunlap - It pains me to type his name but he was actually a serviciable replacement. He faces alot of criticism as he seems to be in the starting lineup more often than not. He is a backup. And plays like a backup. But you can do worse. Bring him back for insurance on Peters. 2yrs 2.4million
Darryl Tapp - A solid professional, always plays hard. With the 3-4 can offer depth at LB. (Was projected as a possible 3-4 candidate out of Vtech) 1yr 850 k
Colt Anderson- Represents everything Philadelphia stands for. Gritty Special teams player is good for a big play or 2 a season. 1yr 600k
Jon Dorenbos - Longtime Longsnapper has done nothing to lose that title. And he can do Magic Tricks! 1yr 550k
Now before I go to Free Agency I want to clear a few names from the start.
Brandon Albert - Jamaal Charles has been the only bright playmaker on the Chiefs offense this season. As they look to target a QB in the draft they will need to keep their top Lineman back at all costs.
Jeriyus Byrd - Buffalo will not let a young top tear saftey walk away, at the absolute worst they will franchise him to ensure he is in a Bills uniform for another year.
Deshaun Goldson - 49ers are contending team and not going to let the leader of their defense hit the market. Plain and simple.
William Moore - See Above..they will most likely let Brent Grimes Walk to ensure they can resign Moore
Randy Starks - One of the most underrated players in football. Would be perfect for the 3-4 but it doesn't seem as if Miami will let him walk away as he has been the most consistant player on their defense.
Stay far away from
Brent Grimes - Local kid, solid ballhawk. Doesn't fit next to Nnamdi any better than Asante did. Also is turning 31 at the start of the season
Kenny Phillips - Many have talked about targeting him in FA. Was one of my favorite Hurricanes coming out of college. Is a very good player when he is on the field, solid hitter and eliminates the deep ball.
Brief history..Tore his ACL in college. In his first 2 seasons in the NFL was diagnosed with patellofemoral arthritis, followed by microfracture surgery. Fast forward 2013 has missed significant time with knee problems. Stay Far away. Is the Andrew Bynum of football.
Jake Long - If the Eagles have learned anything from this past 3 seasons it should be not to overspend in FA. The most successful teams over the past decade Steelers, Giants and Patriots (not so much) have all developed and gotten homegrown talent from the DRAFT.
Jake Long is not the Jake Long #1 pick and 3 time Pro Bowler he was earlier in his career. His play has fallen off a bit and has been constantly nagged with injury problems, finishing his last 2 seasons on IR. Many feel his skills translate better as a Run blocking Mauler RT as he has struggled as of late containing speed rushers at LT. He certainly is still a top 15 tackle and a good football player but he will get top 3 Tackle Money. Pass
Free Agency - Take a "moneyball approach" if you will..sign the right players
Glenn Dorsey - Dorsey is a perfect example of someone who's motor outweighs their talent, much like Manti Te'o his year. He didn't exceed expectations as a top 5 pick, but proved to be a very good run stuffing DE in the 3-4 system. Reminds me alot of Justin Smith..As the 7th pick in the Draft by the Bengals, he didn't wow anyone with stats, but always had a tough motor. In Sanfran under Tomsula he has turned into one of the best lineman in football. Smith was a bit further along than Dorsey at this point. Dorsey run defense compliments Fletcher Cox's pass rushing.
Cheifs have a number of players they have to lock up, Dorsey will be on the market
4yrs 16million
Patrick Chung - Once viewed as an up and coming star saftey, Chung has fallen out of favor in New England due to minor injuries and inconsistancies in coverage. Instead of the next Rodney Harrison he is more along the path of the next Brandon Merriweather. He can be a low risk high reward player and at the worst push Nate Allen for the starting SS job and be a special teams deamon.
2yrs 5million
Matt Moore - Moore is a solid, capable backup if Foles goes down. At the worst he offers insurance and a veteran presence to a young Qb. 2yrs 5million
Antoine Caldwell - Basically replaces Jake Scott as a backup guard. I like his versitality to play center if Kelce misses time.
Draft (Not going to make ridiculous homer picks will be realistic about where every prospect will land)
Trade 4th pick for 12th pick, 45th pick
It is very likely that we trade down as we have numerous holes on the roster.
1. Johnathan Hankins DT. Ohio State
Mamouth of a nose tackle, has anchored OSU's Dline the past 2 seasons. Is a top 10 talent but his lack of pass rushing skills will have him available in the 12-15 range. Is a better fit than Star in the 3-4 who will probably be gone at the 4th pick anyway.
2. Matt Elam FS. Florida
A popular pick, and rightfully so. He can hit, cover, has range and a fiery passion. A poor mans Earl Thomas/Dawkins is an accurate comparison. Size is an issue and he should be on the board at the very top of the 2nd round at the latest.
2. DJ Fluker OT. Alabama
A former top H.S recruit, Fluker has been a very good starter on a dominant Alabama Oline. He is not as polished as Barrett Jones, Joekel, and many other tackles that will be selected in the first. The talent is there. His best longterm position may be at guard, but he can develope into a very good Mauler RT.
3. Nico Johnson MLB. Alabama
Johnson is a projected late 3rd-4th rounder. Is a protypical 3-4 MLB and one ne of the best players on one of the best defenses in the country. Johnson is a very good run defender, very aggresive but struggles in coverage. Demeco Ryans is not a perfect fit in the 3-4 and will not be around forever especially as his age ans pay increases within the next 2 years. Ryans can help groom him to takeover in the future.
4. Devin Taylor DE. South Carolina
Many had high hopes for Taylor, but he had an underwhelming season losing some snaps to the freak that is Jadevon Clowney. At 6'7 280 it is no secret that his best position serves as a 3-4 defensive end. He is currently projected anywhere from the 4th to as late as a 6th round pick. With his measurables and after the combine this pick won't be considered so much of a reach.
5. Nigel Malone CB. Kansas State.
Joining Arthur Brown as the leader of Kansas St defense, Malone is the definition of a late bloomer. He has a big frame, and is decent in man coverage. Can fight Curtis Marsh for the 4th CB spot.
6. Trey Millard FB. Oklahoma
The ultimate throwback player. Millard has proven he can be effective running the ball and receiving with the Sooners. He offers something Havaili can't which is powerful lead blocking. Can challenge for a roster/starting spot.
6. Earl Watford G. James Madison
An under the rador prospect, Watford is a powerful road grader but a bit undersized. Plays with a mean streak and could be a steal..or just another body on the line.
7. Montori Hughes DT. Tennessee Martin
Was a talented and productive player at Tennessee before getting kicked off the team.
Most have him going undrafted but don't be suprised to see a team take a chance on him.
QB. Nick Foles,Matt Moore, Trent Edwards
Foles has full reign of the offense, backed up by two veterans who have starting experience.
RB. LeSean McCoy, Bryce Brown, Dion Lewis, Chris Polk
Mccoy and Brown offer one of the best 1-2 punches in the league and will take alot of pressure off a young QB.
FB. Trey Millard
TE. Brent Celek, Clay Harbor
Offer 2 reliable receiving options.
WR. DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, Greg Salas, Damaris Johnson
A very strong unit if healthy. Avant and Cooper have proven that they can produce baring an injury to the fragil Jackson and Maclin.
LT. Jason Peters
King Dunlap
LG Evan.Mathis
Dallas Reynolds
Earl Watford
C. Jason Kelce
Antoine Caldwell
RG. Todd Herremans
Danny Watkins
RT. DJ Fluker
Dennis Kelly
Much improved unit if healthy with much better depth. Dunlap and Kelly provide experianced, game tested tackles as solid backups. Watkins is the first guard in if there's an injury to Mathis or Herremans. Caldwell is a versatile vet who can fill in at guard or C.
LE. Fletcher Cox
Devin Taylor
RE. Glenn Dorsey
Cedric Thornton
NT. Johnathan Hankins
Cedric Thornton
Montori Hughes
Cox provides a pass rushing threat, Hankins and Dorsey are stout run defenders. Thornton is the first rotational man who can sub in at nose or end.
OLB. Brandon Graham
Darryl Tapp
MLB. Demeco Ryans
Nico Johnson
MLB. Mychal Kendricks
Casey Matthews
OLB. Trent Cole
Vinny Curry
It is no secret Ryans role will be slightley diminished, but his cap hold will not kill us since we released Vick,Bell and Jenkins and didn't go wild in FA. He will still be a leader and be relied on for run defense. In Houston he never had the luxary of playing true Nosetackle, with Hankins upfront he could possibly excell in a Ray Lewis type role. Kendricks main job is to cover the tight end and will be on the field in nickel situations, which he excelled at in college. Graham and Cole are your two pass rushers. Curry is the first sub in at OLB, Johnson at MLB. Matthews and Tapp offer depth.
CB. Nnamdi Asomugha
Dominique Cromarti
Brandon Boykin
Curtis Marsh
Nigel Malone
Asomugha and Cromarti get a fresh new year and coaching staff to prove their worth. Nnamdi certainly has't lived up to expectations but often looks worse because of awful safety play (Kurt Coleman)
FS. Matt Elam
Colt Anderson
SS. Nate Allen
Patrick Chung
Elam becomes the ballhawk to compliment Nate Allen. Chung will fight for a starting spot.
K. Alex Henery
P. Matt McBriar
LS. Jon Dorenbos
KR. Damaris Johnson, Brandon Boykin
Dorenbos will befuddle special teams units leaguewide with his disappearing acts and card tricks.
Training Camp Cuts
Kurt Coleman - Not needed. Anderson can do his job as a backup and offers better special teams play
Jamar Chayney - With the 3-4 in place his experience at OLB isn't needed. Casey Matthews gets the nod over him in a close decision
Stanley Havaili - Beat out by Millard
Phillip Hunt - returns to the UFL and leads the universe in sacks in the preason
Nate Menkins OT.
Matt Tennant C.
David Sims SS.
Mike Kopa OT.

Well though out post, good work. Now I wont argue with your FA signings.
Hankins is a solid selection @ #1. He can also be a stud in a 4-3.
Before I pull the trigger on a S in Rd 2....I look first for a CB. Rd 3-4 we can land upgrades.
DJ Fluker is one on my main targets along with 10 or so other teams looking for a massive talented ORT.... I believe we would need to offer a 4th & our 2nd to move up and nab him. After the combine he will rise.
