What does that actually mean?  When Andy says he takes responsibility,  is he just mindlessly reciting a cliche that he believes will get him out of trouble in a very uncomfortable post game press conference.  If it really is his responsibility, why did he fire Juan Castillo?  If it really is his responsibility, why did he fire Jim Washburn?  If it really is his responsibility,  why did he release Jason Babin?  If it really is his responsibility,  why did he fire Sean McDermott?

If it really is HIS responsibility,  why doesn't he step down?

For 14 years now,  we have constantly heard Andy Reid say,  "I gotta do a better job".  Again,  does he actually mean that,  or is it just brainless recitation of a cliche that he believes will liberate him from the reckless onslaught of questions by a media and a fanbase that wants answers,  HONEST answers?

If he really has to do a better job,  when does he plan on doing so?

I'm just getting old and grey.

It's just coach speak. Obviously he hasn't done a better job in 13 years, so he can't believe anyone takes that seriously when he says it. Game after game the same issues arise, mainly turnovers, and it hasn't been fixed. Reid is the master of the cliche, and if you listen to the majority of his players they are as well

Saying the same thing every press conference for 14 straight seasons. If you admit that you're not doing a good enough job at fixing the problems, that tells everybody all that they need to know. I'll be glad when we don't have to hear this crap anymore.

When he takes the podium at the press game conferences now,  he might as well just literally say, "blah blah blah blah blah".  That's about as poignant as him reciting the same cliches over and over again.

He might as well write a list of all of his cliches and just pass them out to reporters. Then when they ask a question he can just save time and say "#23" and those PCs will be over in 3 minutes.

It's Lurie who needs to hold Reid accountable, not Reid.  Reid has been given more than enough latitude and tolerance during the failures of the past few seasons.

The time for talk is over.  The talk itself, any talk, is meaningless at this point.  Reid telling us again that he takes responsibility has no more value than a stale beer fart.  Neither did Lurie telling us last season that 8-8 is unacceptable.  If Reid isn't fired, then losing is acceptable for the Philadelphia Eagles.

exactly

when we see a team that self destructs in almost every phase of the game it is obivious that there is a serious problem with leadership. what we saw last night is exactly who they are....a 4-10 team that cant compete for a full 60 minutes. this happens every week. a 4-10 team that resembles ineptitude, lack of basic ball handling skills, and a serious lack of mental focus. it is bad all the way around.

Not only that but the sports reporters are equally mindless. Not one of them has the intelligence to challenge the idiot when he says that. Someone should have come right out and said, "Andy what does that mean exactly?"" How do you take responsibility, what do you do to improve the position you put players in?" When they miss tackles do you make them tackle in practice for 3 hours? When they drop passes do you throw balls at them for 3 hours  until they get it? When they cant read defenses how much information can you give them before you determine whether or not they are just too damn stupid to get it? What do you actually do, please give us some examples.....anyway that is what he should have been asked....

Andy knows he needs to do a better job like he says, but he more or less says this week in and week out to take as much negative attention away from his players as possible.

Dan Patrick was poking fun at Reid saying it's his responsibility this morning on his show.

If I said I got to do a better job once to my boss, OK. Twice, a warning. Third time... my a** is gone. Forget 14 years.

they can't. I started a post last night saying they did get in his face to an extent about whether the players were getting the message, but they can't really dig too deep because then they'll be shown the door and not allowed back. In other words, they can't put the coach on the spot.

Now I don't listen to his press conferences, so I could care less what he says.
But I am curious as to what you want him to say ??
Do you want him to throw his players under the bus in public ???
Do you want him to say it was the other guys fault ???

Seriously. All you people that are forever complaining about his press conferences, WHAT DO YOU WANT HIM TO SAY ???
I don't get it.
But then again I don't get why he has a press conference or why fans would listen. But that's me.

I would like to see him talk to the press like a REAL HUMAN BEING.  He sounds like a parrot.   "Blah, blah, blah,  gotta do a better job.  Blah,  blah, blah,  I take full responsibility. Blah, blah, blah,  Times yours."  14 years of that over and over again.

What would I like to hear?  How about this after a loss?  Maybe he could show some anger so that we really know he's pissed off.

Show some emotion.  Let's us know that you care and that you are pissed.  God,  I would love to see Andy meltdown. Sometimes I think that he really doesn't care.  He's just going through the motions so that he can collect his check.  This guy here is pissed.  I know he cares.

If your head coach addressed the media like this,  you know that he is pissed off and you know that he will do everything to get the ship pointed in the right direction.

Honestly,  if his press conferences are any indication of how he interacts with the team and the players,  then there is no doubt in my mind why they have lost 10 games this season.  They are a reflection of him.  He acts as if he's annoyed that he has to be there,  and he is simply going through the motions.  That's exactly how this team performs on the field.  That would explain the turnovers and sloppy play.  The players are just going through the motions,  and collecting checks.
