Firstly - I am not a "Folezz lover" or a "Vick hater" and I actually think Vick can still be a good starter for another team. But people are commenting saying Foles sucks already? After one bad game against a good team? He wasn't even that bad, at the end when the game was over and lost he made a few stupid throws but he looked good in the first half. Remember he has hardly any starters around him. Also have you fans forgotten about the Bucs game already? Apparently he was only good because they're a bad pass defense yet he had no help from a run game or his blockers, so it still wasn't easy. The run game didn't help him out yesterday either. But anyway, seeing as some people are already ready to give up on him, I thought i'd post some stats of every rookie QB this year when they've had a bad game who are apparently all better than Foles. I won't post there mediocre games (there's a lot), only there pretty bad ones.  There teams haven't given up on them, so I don't get the hate for Foles. Yes he can't throw deep at the moment, he'll learn when he's preparing to be our starter next year in the off season. I'm convinced he'll start next year. He's only thrown 1 pick the last 3 games I mean come on. Anyway...

Andrew Luck: Bears away week 1 - 51% Comp, 309 yards, 1TD, 3 Interceptions, 1 lost fumble. 52.9 Rating.
                       Titans week 14 - 47.1 Comp, 196 yards, ITD, 2 Interceptions, 1 fumble, 50.6 Rating
                       Jets away week 6 - 50% Comp, 280 yards, 0TD, 2 Interceptions, 1 lost fumble, 51.3 Rating.

Robert Griffin II Really none, but maybe week 8 & 9 where his rating was 72.8 and 74.2 against Steelers and Panthers.
(Very hard to find, has a few games where he hardly throws, For example Falcons week 5, 10/15 for 91 yards no TD's no picks and only 7 yards rushing.

Ryan Tannehill: Texans away week 1 - 55% Comp, 219 yards, 0TD, 3 Interceptions, 1 fumble, 39 Rating.
                           Jets week 3 - 44% Comp, 196 yards, 0TD, 1 Interception, 50.2 Rating.
                           Titans week 10 - 59% Comp, 217 yards, 0TD, 3 Interceptions, 42.4 Rating.
                           Buffalo away week 11, 50% Comp, 141 yards, 1TD, 2 Interceptions, 46.9 Rating.

Brandon Weeden: Philadelphia week 1, 34.3% Comp, 118 yards, 0TD, 4 Interceptions, 5.1 Rating (Bounced back with 114.9 Rating)                                                                                                                                      h                           Chargers week 8 - 40% Comp, 129 yards, 0TD 0 Interceptions, 55.5 Rating
                             Ravens week 9 - 54% Comp, 176 yards, 0TD, 2 Interceptions, 44.4 Rating.

Russel Wilson:     Rams week 4 - 68% Comp, 160 yards, 0TD, 3 Interceptions, 45.8 Rating.
                            49ers away 39% Comp, 122 yards, 0TD, 1 Interception, 38.7 Rating.

JUST FOR FUN:
Payton Manning: Patriots away week 2, 63% Comp, 188 yards, 1TD, 3 Interceptions, 1 lost fumble, 51.1 Rating
(As a rookie)         Jets away week 3, 45% Comp, 193 yards, 0TD, 2 Interceptions, 39.3 Rating.
                            Dolphins away week 10, 52% Comp, 140 yards, 1TD, 2 Interceptions, 47.7 Rating.
                            Bills away week 12, 48.3% Comp, 164 yards, 1TD, 2 Interceptions, 48.6 Rating.

Yes some of you will see this as a pointless post (to be honest, including me) BUT I'm attempting to make a point that you cannot suddenly say a QB is bad because of one dodgy game. He was a lot better yesterday than he was against the Redskins and he bounced back well enough then.
Nick Foles Rating against the Redskins was 40.5 after a 85 rating against the Cowboys. He bounced back from that 40 rating with ratings of 86.2, 96.6, 98.6. Yesterday against the Bengals his rating was 62.9. Can we not give up on a quarterback, who just played an exceptional game against the bucs, after one game.

Most of TATE gave up on Brandon Graham too and look at him now. I'm not commenting on how good Foles is gonna be in the future, but if i'm honest i'm excited about seeing him progress and start next year. Anyway, times yours!

This is TATE. We love giving up on players based on a game or two, and hailing them as hall of famers a week later when they have big games.

Because tate logic is a rookie is not allowed to have a worst game than the 10+ vet he is replacing despite playing with backups and a defense that is very inconsistent.

Never hailed him as a hall of famer either, I just thought he had a very good game against the Bucs.

Hello, I'm done with this season, can only hope for change in August 2013, I refuse to spend money/time watching my Eagles lose so if i have something better to do then that's what I'll do. Rebuild like other team make changes is what we need to get in playoffs and get that Ring

Aside from the people in the Foles vs. Vick camp. I don't see ANYONE giving up on Foles. Sure when he first came in there were some people saying he looked bad (which he did). But I don't think anyone is "giving up" up on him.

The concerns I've seen people have with dude are light concerns but could turn out to be long term ones (deep ball accuracy, locking down recievers, throws/decisions putting WRs in danger etc.)

And he has played for a quarter season so far. So it's getting to the point that we should be seeing some sort of development in some of those areas, or we're going to have to start wondering if they are bonafied deficiencies.

The deep ball accuracy is a big one for me right now. Because Foles has not completed a long ball to a guy that was not wide open in 5 starts. If there is a fraction of coverage he is mis-judging his throws. And he's playing and practicing with these guys every day now. So I'm not buying the "rookie" excuse if that doesn't improve in the next 2 games.

He's thrown deep passes before. He just didn't throw any good ones last night.

His performance last night was below average. I don't think he's done enough to lose the job and that's really all that matters.

he's been underthrowing the deep ball since preseason. If a QB can't throw deep, they have no business starting.

He will be a career backup IMO

so the key to making him a great quarterback is working around that and having him throw the passes he can make, and only go to the deep ball on select plays. Look back at Joe Montana's career. Considered one of the best QB's ever. Well his throws were typically 8-12 yarders and his receivers would run them another 20.

Here's another...

Nick Foles' first 5 games at Philadelphia: 113-184, 61.4% completion, 1174 yards, 4 tds, 3 ints

Bobby Hoying's first 5 games at Philadelphia: 91-160, 56.9% completion, 1138 yards, 8 tds, 4ints

(Note: No, I'm not giving up on him)

not giving up its a matter of judging if this guy is simply a solid backup

or a starting caliber QB

the expectation is that he ends up being a solid backup (based on draft position and 3rd qbs history)

BUT

can nick exceed those expectations?

we will find out

Nobody that knows football is giving up. In fact, they are more encouraged than anything. You have to understand the people on these boards that are trashing him, more than likely are the same ones that think Michael Vick is a great quarterback. Even a good quarterback. I think you need to read between the lines on that one.

Gotta admit, at the short/medium routes Foles looks very very solid!

I think Vick is a good Qb, I'm not giving up on Foles or trashing him either.

I think you can have a conversation about Foles without refering to Vick at all. But maybe it's beyond some EMB'rs.

I think he's got more than enough arm for deep balls. In fact I saw him badly overthrow Cooper and Mcnutt on two occasions. He can sling it it's just a matter of mechanics  timing, footwork, etc. He will continue to get better.

I'm pretty sure I saw your comments when I was trying to get information on the game last night, and sure, you can talk about Foles without bringing up Vick. Things like he's got no arm, he can't play in the NFL. He's a backup, etc. etc. he's a rookie playing with a backup team, so when you see stupid comments, and threads, you know where it's going.
