People are pointing to organizational failure on the part of the Eagles - the Exec VP and HC in particular - and he bears the ultimate responsibility. Two other factors have contributed to the slide - the injuries to the offense and the mucked up coaching situation on the defensive side of the ball. Reid bears the sole responsibility for this IMO. As well, he made a mistake by firing the previous ST coach to hire Bobby April. Ultimately, Reid's staffing choices over the last couple of years for the Eagles coaches have been to get the big name. Hence, not only did we wind up with April, but we wind up with Washburn and Mudd. Washburn's hiring not only made it next to impossible for the Eagles to get a top tier DC, it also opened the door to move a perfectly fine OL coach in Juan Castillo to an out of position coaching assignment further mucked up by this weird situation with the DL and DL coach. Mudd's hiring hurt the Eagles to the extent it worked to mess up the defensive coaching situation. As to the injuries to the offense, they speak for themselves.
But one overlooked point through all of this. The Eagles used to brag that they were rebuilding on the fly - that they would remain contenders while rebuilding. Well guess what - they're in a rebuilding mode right now, but they ain't contenders. Don't think the youth on this team hasn't been another factor in the poor performance. How many rookies are starting now?

Andy Reid says many of the Eagles’ miscues are just rookie mistakes
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 15, 2012, 7:24 AM EST
Youth is to blame for some of the Eagles’ big problems, coach Andy Reid says.
Asked about a blocked punt against the Bengals on Thursday night, Reid said that the problem was rookie receiver Marvin McNutt getting beaten by his man so badly that he was pushed into the path of punter Mat McBriar, who ended up punting the ball into McNutt’s butt. Reid also said that a rookie was to blame for the Eagles’ punt team not having the correct personnel on the field on that play: Ryan Rau, a rookie linebacker, wasn’t on the field because he was with the defense on the sideline instead of being with the punt team.
“Rookie mistake,” Reid said about Rau, via the Courier-Post.
Reid also said inexperience is to blame for fumbles. Rookie quarterback Nick Foles and rookie running back Bryce Brown had a misconnection on a handoff, and Brown has had a number of problems with fumbles, losing three in his first two NFL games. Reid said that’s just a matter of inexperience on the part of Brown, who is not only in his first NFL season but doesn’t even have much college experience, with just 104 carries in his entire college career.
“He needs to play,” Reid said of Brown. “That’s why I haven’t sat him down because of the fumbles.”
The Eagles have a lot of rookies getting a lot of playing time, and so it’s not surprising that Reid would cite that fact in explaining his team’s struggles. Unfortunately for Reid, he won’t be around to develop those rookies beyond the next three weeks.

I freaking hate the term "rookie mistakes". It's a copout excuse every time it's used. There's no such thing .... all mistakes are just "mistakes".
