Personally I like his never say die attitude and toughness. What has he accomplished he's had some of the best games of his career here and some of the best single season games that we've seen out of any qb (Washington massacre, Giants come back win, etc) and shown that he can be a serviceable qb in certain conditions and with help from his supporting cast play calling.
This isn't to say that I he should be the qb running away. But as I've stated in other post. All I want to do is win. And win as soon as possible. I don't want to wait 2-3 years for a guy to develop, draft pick to pan out, etc. Our players are also getting older. Desean Jackson, Macklin, Celek, Shady, etc. are approaching the prime of their careers. While Vick is in decline there is no arguing that based on skill and experience; putting him side by side with Foles he does give the team the best chance to win now. Yes he is older and declining in speed. That's my answer to your question. I've seen enough from Vick and his career and here to know that you can win with him. Just not as the focal piece. And I want to win now. We have players where with some retooling, we could compete again. Sooner rather than later.
And before someone comes in with the he hasn't won/did anything comment.
Unless you're last name is Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, or Rothlisberger you haven't won ish in the last 15 years. So that stands for all those other qbs out there as well.
The problem on this team is defense. If we don't fix the defense, we don't compete..
You don't need an all star qb. Its nice, but you don't need it. If you have a great defense, and a serviceable qb that can pill through in the clutch if you need it, you can beat any team. Ask the 49ers. Or Trent Dilfer..
And you can tell me that the 9ers lost to the giants last year, but if you don't know that the punt returner gave that game away, then you clearly didn't watch it..
