A third of the league would take those numbers. Ask Cleveland, Houston, Dallas, Washington, Buffalo, Oakland, Atlanta, 49ers, Miami, Jacksonville, Kansas City, St. Louis, Detroit, Tampa Bay if they'd take 3 playoff wins the past 8 years.

They can be satisfied with that if they want to but this is Philly. Problem is when you try to make moves that tell fans you're "going all in" or there will be no excuses or even if you come as close as the Eagles have on multiple occasions, 3 wins in that span just isn't good enough.

How else would he go out? Coaches don't get fired on a good note.
I feel bad for Andy and his family with what they had to go through in August and I appreciate his strength in wanting to continue to coach this football team in 2012 but it is just time to go. His style of football just does not cut it here anymore and change is needed bad.
I respect what he did for this team in his years but it is time to go and he knows it.

RE: Last 5-6 years - IMO Head Coach is an 80 hour a week job. Now combine that with 'VP of Football Operations', another 80 hour a week job and you've got the makings of a lower quality product overall. Finally when you factor in some family issues it's just too much to handle. Overall I think he'll move on to be just the head coach somewhere else in 2013 and he'll do a great job at it.
RE: Spoiler - If we beat the Redskins and Giants essentially we are helping the Cowboys get in. I'm not into that. It would also be lowering our potential draft pick, so again I'm not into that. I say we lose out. IR any starter with a bo-bo and get the young kids some reps.

Keep trumpeting 2010 and 2011 as if they mean anything. Both years the Eagles were simply average and lost to every halfway decent team they played. They just happened to be able to beat up on a bunch of bad teams.
Come to think of it, that's the story of most of Andy Reid's career. Both years they were badly exposed in their playoff games.

Listen, nobody is saying that Reid has been breaking any records since 2005. But he also hasn't been nearly as bad as fans think. And obviously we all were hoping and expecting better since 2005. But before this debacle of a year there were basically only 7 teams out of the 31 that had been more successful then the Eagles.
No great, but certainly not nearly as bad as fans scream about.
Either way, it's time to move on from the Reid era and hopefully the next coach can be at least as good.

Here we go again. We should be happy to have the privilege of losing playoff games, because some teams don't even get to do that.

This is why I want him out of here so bad. It's so obvious that this regime has conditioned the fan base to accept and embrace mediocrity. 8-8 last year, and 4-12 this year, but we're suppose to be afraid to fire Andy. Can it really get much worse than 4-12? Can the next coach really be that bad?
If that happens, then you just fire the next guy too. Just like the team did with Kotite and Rhodes.

Now it is time for Reid to go. I am a full Reid supporter and I know this city needs a change.
Problem is, you all needed a change with McNabb and look how that has turned out the last 2 years.
So just be prepared.

I think what people are saying (at least in my case), is that yes we all know they didn't win a SB. And yes 2005 through now certainly isn't as good as 1999-2004. But to talk about what Reid did in his time here like he was the worst coach in the history of the NFL is moronic and makes no sense.
The fact is, he has been extremely successful compared to the VAST VAST MAJORITY of the roughly 525 NFL head coaches since the SB era.
**easily the best and most successful coach in Eagles history.
**ironically out of almost 525 head coaches in NFL history, his accomplishments easily put him at around the 30th best ever.
Say what you want. Hate the guy all you want. But being the 30th best of 525 is still pretty dam good.
Is it as good as I wanted or the rest of fans wanted ??? Hell no. Not close. But it is what it is.
Reid was a very good coach that just couldn't take that final; step.
And if this new coach can guarantee me that almost every year the Eagles will be in position to not only make the playoffs but make noise in them like Reid did,,,, I would be ecstatic.
You don't have a shot at the SB with out getting to the playoffs. And Reid did that at a very high rate.
Winning 10 games a year as often as Reid has done is very hard in the NFL.
Winning the division as often as Reid has is even harder.
Winning in the playoffs as often as Reid has is even harder then that.
Getting to NFCCGs as often as Reid has is almost unheard of.
Winning a CCG is a rare happening.
Getting to a SB is even more rare.
Winning it all takes a lot more then just coaching and having good players.
Have these last 2 years been a success ??? Hardly. But you still can't take away from his 2000 - 2010 accomplishments. There are literally only a few teams that had more success then the Eagles in those 11 years. And in the current NFL (free agency and salary cap),,, being 1 of the top teams for that long is almost impossible.

And you haters are sooo conditioned to just forget about 2000-2010 and just look at 2 years of his 14 years to define what Reid did.
Is it time to move on ?? You bet. But not based off of JUST these 2 years.
If you are expecting the next coach to come in and...........
**Win 10 games a year or more in 8 of the next 11 years you're dreaming.
**Win the division 7x in 11 years you're dreaming
**Make the playoffs in 9 of 11 years you're crazy.
**Advance past the 1st rd in 7 of those 9 playoff years you are absolutely crazy.
**get to 5 NFCCGs in 11 years you are in outer space.
Can the next coach come in and get lucky and get to A SB or win a SB ?? Absolutely. And I sure as hell hope he does. But I also don't want to go through what lucky teams like the Saints and Bucs have gone through. They win a single SB and then for the most part they suck or have maybe a couple of good years.
Sorry, I'll take what the Eagles did from 2000-2010 then what the Bucs did from 2000-2010. That single SB means nothing to me if you suck the other 10 years. Or like the Saints, yes they have had 3 good years. Big deal. 3 good years out of 11. Meanwhile the other 8 years were basically a debacle.
Picture what the eagles just went through this year and last year. That is what the Bucs and saints have gone through almost every year except a few years over the last decade. You people might want that crap. Not me. I want a competitive team MOST years that gives a chance MOST years to get to a SB. Not a fluke single year.
