As I said before the season started... Riley Copper should be a starter for the Eagles.  Now that he got his shot to play this year... I feel that he could easily start over Maclin as the number 2 wideout.  He has amazed me in the catches that he has been able to bring in, down the field and in the endzone.  He gives us a little well needed height with our receivers and he isn't affraid to make a catch and take a hard hit... unlike somebody else ---> (Maclin).  So once again, I am happy to see and to cheer for Riley Cooper and all of his catches and touchdowns!  All I can say to that is... Keep an eye on him Eagles and don't let him go!

i dont think cooper should start over maclin or desean at all, but i do think he has been vastly underused since he has been here, esp in the red zone, i think avant needs to be strictly a 3rd down WR and more snaps should go to cooper.

I wouldn't mind cooper challenging maclin for the starter opposite djax and kicking the reject to the #4. New coach wont care where they were drafted, just who's better and better suited for the scheme. Djax and avant are fine in their roles.

Initially the Djax and Jerry Rice comparisons intrigued me, but DJAX is not smart, strong, and elusive enough as Rice seemed to be. DJAX cant take a hit, and he will only play on the outside.

its funny at last years draft...everyone was saying mcnutt was going to beat out cooper. Then after preseason people were saying what has cooper done to deserve to be on the roster. Now cooper should be a starting wr ahead of maclin? Wow. I like cooper but he is a very good situational player. He is not a better overall receiver than maclin lol

Actually I believe that Cooper is better then Maclin!  He has better hands and isn't scared to take a hit.  Maclin reminds me so much of Todd Pinkston... in the fact that he has decent speed to get open but when he hears a defender's footsteps he either tucks before the ball gets to him or he drops the ball as soon as he his hit... But wide open he is amazing with great hands!

cooper is bigger and has good hands that is very true. However, maclin is a much, much, much better route runner than riley cooper and gets open far more often. Maclin isn't built to take big hits unfortunately just like desean. overall though, cooper is not a better receiver than maclin.

Maclin avoids any and all contact when possible. There are many occasions when he could have fought for extra yards but flops to the grass or runs out of bounds. Plus he is injury pronged, seems to be hurt all the time. I like Cooper and he should get more targets especially in the red zone. WR should be one of top positions to target in offseason.

Hahahaha. Dead on.
Cooper is a nice complimentary WR that is likely going to be the typical #3 or #4 WR in the NFL.
There is NOTHING he has shown to even come close to being a better WR then Djax or Maclin. NOT CLOSE.

Has he made a COUPLE nice plays ?? Absolutely. But the kid has been here for 3 years now and has shown very little except to warrant situational playing time.
Christ, he's not even ahead of Avant let alone Djax and Maclin. Hell I'm not sure he is ahead of Johnson now that I think about it.

Ahhhhhh, he has missed 5 games in 4 years. And 3 of those games were from illness not injury.
WR should be just about the last position on this team to worry about.

Call me crazy, but it would seem as though..................
CB
S
OL
P
LB
KR
DL
are certainly more pressing then a friggen WR.

It depends on what they need - I don't think Cooper plays his best out of the slot and he is not going to play ahead of Maclin or DJax in 2 WR sets unless 1 is taking a breather or in some Redzone packages - with that said, Cooper is a good enough WR that his special teams play will keep him on the roster for another year or 3.

If we combined all of tates worst ideas we could really have a dream team.

1. Bring in Chip Kelly and keep vick. (he will let vick be vick)
2. trade jackson, maclin, and mccoy because we are rebuilding.
3. use all the high draft pics on tall receivers, offensive lineman, and linebackers.
4. cooper and mcnutt will be our starting wr's and one of our new tall guys can replace avant because he is "too slow".
5. bring back dawkins and sheldon brown to play safety !!!!
6. when it doesn't work...Blame mcnabb !!!

I like Coop but he's best fit as a #3 guy, at this current time. Slow and not as consistent as we'd want him to be. He still has plenty of time to prove himself I feel.
He has made plenty of freak catches since becoming an Eagles. Even when Vince Young was targeting him he made some fantastic catches in traffic. Like the kid but
not who I want to be in our #1 or #2 slot.

The only reason he blew up the first few games is because Foles is comfortable with Cooper since he practices with him constantly. I bet if he practiced with the 1sts with Maclin and DeSean since the beginning then Cooper would be seeing less balls. He's just not that dynamic really.

Cooper is a decent #4 WR. He's far too slow to supplant what Maclin gives you.

Very true. I've never seen a WR go down so easily, or slide to avoid contact.

I think Cooper is better suited as a #3 WR.  He could probably be a #2 for some teams but we do not have a true #1 WR threat so he wouldn't really work out as a #2 with the Eagles.  That said I am happy to see him getting more playing time, he represents my two favorite teams the Florida Gators and Philadelphia Eagles.
