Was just thinking it would be an Honorable thing to do to have the BCS game in Chicago's Soldier Field in honor of the truly courageous who have fallen or are serving this country. Could be called the Soldier's( or Memorial) Bowl. I am sure there would be sell outs and the city would profit, too. And the games would be more interesting being played under various weather conditions, just like the old NFL Championships. But I guess fair weather teams would be in an uproar!

And how many people you know, would spend 1-2 K on travel, hotel expenses, and paid time off (at work), to go to a cold, wet, and frigid stadium to see possible BCS teams?

Not entirely a bad thought (honoring veterans), but for most people, the attraction are the teams, and the location.  Most BCS games games are played in ideal locations for a reason: MONEY!!!!

I would tend to disagree. I think you'd have a full house, I really do. And I think lots of money could still be generated for the city and the NCAA. Why not make the teams from the South play in these conditions. Let them travel. If their fans are true fans, then they would travel to support their team. It would be real football, the way i remember games from the past. If only Jim Brown could have run on perfect turf in perfect conditions............

You are ridiculous. While the weather conditions would be different for SEC teams, I doubt it would change much. A lot of those teams are built to play power football which is ideal in wild weather conditions. Pac 12 teams and Big 12 teams would struggle the most with it.

You SEC clones make me SICK. Of course, your little SEC players would rather receive a hard thrown pass in Chicago rather than in dome covered Georgia. You are an idiot!!!!! Go Trent and Marc. Stay in the South! and live in your glass bubble....Go McElroy! You sick F's

Let's honor the JuCo idiots rather than the Vets. That'll make sense.  Seriously, have a Northern Bowl, rather than the usual SEC area bowl! Snow, cold, and frozen field!

You just made two opposing arguements.  So your going to FORCE the fans to fill a stadium 1K miles away north, in the middle of the WINTER????? But, again, IF they are "True Fans", according to you, that is worth the risk.

Bro, I am not saying its not a cool idea, I think it is really, but we live in a world the spins because of money, the mad dash for the big buck.....and sloppy, risky, frozen and uncomfortable conditions do not draw CFB crowds for teams from the SEC, which is usually in the BCS picture.  Have you been in the college scene for a while?  I have, and college boosters would NOT be happy with that type of arrangement.  Boosters are what make these teams go round, belllleeeedattt.

No, not forcing anyone to go. Game scheduled, game to be played, fans come or they don't, just as Wisconsin or Illinois or Oregon fans have to travel if they want to attend. it is the individual's choice. Let have a Bowl in honor of the Truly Brave, not the players who these enabling sports announcers call brave-the slightly injured painful finger ones that play despite their pain. Just saying i think people would come!

The game would sell out no doubt. I doubt as many people without tickets would show up though b/c of the cold weather. I already said I'd love it (and also love the SB in NY), but I think too many boosters/admins/bcs officials want bowls to remain feeling like vacations to move it to a cold weather site

That's fine....show up or not-it'll still make tons of dollars(and isn't that what the NCAA execs want to pocket? Plus the southern teams will be able to branch out.., get some culture,...sit in a plane....see some of the US other than the South(or West for that matter). They can go or not, if they are man enough to brave the cold...my son had no choice but to go to Iraq with the USMC!, weather not withstanding!

I am a service member myself, so the thought of having another Bowl honoring veterans isn't entirely disconcerting.  However, as I said, I don't see BCS board going north with it outdoors.  They have the Armed Services bowl, they have Army vs. Navy...I'm ok with that.  Although I am an idealist by nature, I have learned the value of pragmatism.  Simply put, it aint gonna happen Jack (reference to Si from Duck Dynasty).

I know you're right-the NCAA honchos would never go for it, even though I think it would draw money.....more money in their pockets playing in the South. Turn a blind eye to change, just like they turned a blind eye toward PSU(and you know they did)

you are just saying this because you fondle ND's balls much like catholic priests have done to little boys for centuries. You just want Notre Dame to play in a city that is very close to South Bend so they have somewhat of a home game. pathetic of you to sugar coat it with the idea of having it honor soldiers.

and the idea of moving it to a cold weather city is just bad. People don't want to vacation in a cold city in January and watch the game played in potentially miserable conditions. These tickets are far from cheap and I doubt the schools would want to eat the cost of having tickets go unsold because people would rather watch the game at parties than in windy, snowy conditions

The game would sell out eassssily. The problem would be people without tickets wouldn't go like they do now

Dear Ms. Innocence,
The SEC has been coating for years and years., and the SEC doesn't cover up felonies, etc, you fool. Amazing when I read all these schools that are not allowing certain players to playin the bowls are non SEC teams. I guess the SEC is crime, school code violation free:) OK, play it in Buffalo, Foxboro........I believe everytime ND beat Alabama it was in the South? No if ND is going to beat the bama morons, they will beat them whereever! Just would be cool to have a Northern Bowl to let the southern guys feel the chill a little, and to honor the soldier who did not deal with the enemy under ideal conditions. Let these spoiled, enabled athletes feel what the real world is all about. Oh yes, Bama grads get to work in the real world car dealerships.....love joking with you people. Bring Andy Reid back, Mr. Temple

Nicks, you are honestly one of the dumbest people on this site. I can't wait to watch my school, Alabama, kick the crp out of ND. The best part is I will be there in WARM, SUNNY MIAMI. Who the hell would want to go to a freezing cold stadium? Only a moron like you. Please STFU. Roll Tide Roll!!!
