We know who Vick is and what he is (in)capable of.  What is the benefit to starting him next week?  Give Edwards a shot and see if he is worth keeping as the 2nd/3rd QB for next season.

It's funny how Vick's terrible concussion is suddenly better.

He was almost cleared for the Bengals game actually, and was fine for this past week.

I agree. Maybe this is the Eagles doing what they can to get the best pick available... would you be mad if they traded down....mid round .. for a 2nd 4th and.5th? Obviously swapping 1st.with who ever

Only if we were passing up Milliner, Joeckel or Teo, though I'm not even positive about all of them yet. I have some studying to do

It's probably just a matter of Andy doing Mike a favor, allowing him one last opportunity here to showcase himself to the rest of the league, to prove he is healthy and ready to return as a starting QB.  It's almost a certainty Andy is relieved of his duties after the season concludes ... hard to think Mike will still be on the roster here since Andy is the one who pleaded with Lurie to bring him aboard (from all accounts, it took a lot of convincing).  But until the new HC is hired, you just don't know with any certainty.

Agree 100%.  Why showcase Vick to other teams for next year?  Trent makes the most sense on all fronts and the guy def. deserves the chance to start.

Vick will not be traded, he will be starting next year.  Luckily the front office has more sense than you people.

It is a gamble with the owners money. From what I understand Michael Vick will be released on or around the time of the Super Bowl. If he gets hurt that would be a 3 million dollar loss. So this is strictly an Andy Reid move. The owner wouldn't take that chance. Personally I wouldn't start Edwards either. I don't want a win. Start Avant.

I think it is dumb to start Vick for the sole reason of risk of injury. He gets hurt and the team is on the hook for a minimum of $3M. This has to be purely Reid doing Vick a favor. Let him showcase what he has for teams one last time, or if nothing else an opportunity for Vick to get hurt and pick up a few extra bucks from the team.

With the Chip Kelly news making the rounds, I wouldn't be surprised if Vick stayed if they make Kelly a quick signing. Foles doesn't fit Kelly's mold of the type of athletic/dual threat quarterback Kelly needs to run his offense.

I'm sure the forum bigots will be protesting all week over Vick starting.  You all know as well as I do that he's gonna go out there with a vengeance and crush the Giants.  It's like the 1989 commercial for Halloween 5 said HE'S BACK WITH A VENGEANCE.

He will be starting...for the Chiefs, Jets, Raiders, or Browns.

If I were Vick I wouldn't want to showcase what I've got. He should let teams think he's good rather than go out and show them he's still terrible.

"Suddenly"? Where do you get "Suddenly"? He could have played two weeks ago and was announced as a HEALTHY scratch last week. He's been out because Reid wanted Foles in, and no secret was made of that at all.

Fractures do usually happen suddenly. Instantaneously, in fact. I'm guessing you've never done anything physical that would put you in danger of anything more than carpal tunnel syndrome.

I think the idea to start Vick is a shrewd business decision. Edwards is pretty good, but the fact that he will likely stay next year means no need to advertise him to the league. Vick meanwhile...the best they can hope for is a drastic restructure that will allow them to trade him. Worst case; Vick gets hurt -and I think insurance money kicks in for the Eagles -so that's really a positive. Say Vick blows up with 4 TDs or something. There's no downside to generating league interest in him.

I look for Vick to set the world on fire.  It's a good thing he doesn't have to do it for more games than this one though.

I understand starting vick to give you some recent tape to use to sell him in a trade.

This is the one game that is truly meaningless except to lose draft pick position!!!

Giants are out and the eagles are out... ONLY positive in this game is draft position.

last week I was all for going for the win because it meant something to the redskins, but now!?!!!
?
?
NO! This is a throw all the rookies in, play hard, but not a win PLEASE!!!! lol

Eagles win & Redskins win, Giants & Cowboys miss the playoffs. As far as I'm concerned, seeing the Gurls and the Gnats miss out is worth nearly anything, and dropping one place in the draft hierarchy with this dismal draft is almost no price to pay at all.

Nowhere did I say that. If I were judging I would say Foles is on par with Michael Vick now. As he gets more experience, and starting caliber players around him, I expect Foles to be much better than Michael Vick. Edwards I don't know. He looked good in the preseason, and certainly good enough to beat a terrible Giants team, now. That's why I would prefer Avant. Why would you want to win this game. I'd much rather draft 4 than 7.

It wouldn't matter if he has one of his patented 3 touchdown days, or 3 fumble/interception days.

I've been saying this since Vick got hurt. In hindsight it was good to give Foles so many starts to see what we had there, but I wouldn't have minded seeing more of Trent Edwards.

I think if we saw Edwards, we would have seen a flashback to '08 with Jeff Garcia and we might actually have a better record right now. Considering how weak our division is, we might have even still been in the hunt.

That last drive on the skins, they would of scored with vick that close to tge endzone!!!

They didn't think he would win every game. They wanted him to get experience for next year. Nick Foles also made the offensive line look better, as well as his receivers. Foles didn't get pummeled play after play. You didn't hear announcers saying he can't continue to take this beating.
