The thing that may hurt him the most is his reputation as having been one of the dirtiest players in the league (whether justifiably deserved or not), but he and Woodson are two other of those "triple threat" safeties from the past 2 decade who will at minimum garner some HOF consideration.

for a QB it does. Aikman wasn't close to a hall of fame caliber QB, and that got him in on the 1st ballot, I don't think Eli is HOF caliber really, but he does meet the criteria to get in and will. If you are a QB, you win a couple rings you are in.....heck if you get good stats and can just get 1 ring you are probably in (see Steve Young)
safety and TE are two spots that are hard to get in on..... Charlie Waters from Dallas had almost 600 tackles, 41int's (in a day where they threw far less passes) won 2 SB rings and went to 4 SB's, and he can't get a sniff of the HOF. There are only 8 TE's in the HOF, so I don't know what Witten's chances are, though to me he is definitely HOF worthy, I think he, along with Dawkins might be guys that get in down the line via the veterans committee.

To me as well, and in fact IMO he is/was not only the best "all around" TE of this generation but an all-timer who would have excelled in any era.
It's easy to do the "woulda, shoulda" years after a draft but I honestly think that if the Bird's would have taken him in 03' instead of LJ freakin Smith, Witten would have been virtually unstoppable in Reid's O.

Aaron Rodgers? Serious? He's had probably 2 really good years in an otherwise relatively short career. Let him have a few more Brady/Manning type seasons first.
Aldon Smith? Second year player? What if he goes Merriman on everyone and falls off the map now? I feel relatively the same about Clay Matthews.
HOF guys are supposed to be legendary. Guys who were plainly the BEST of an era, not just "good players" who had 2 or 3 seasons near the top. Feels like you guys are getting carried away. There's various players from 10+ years ago still waiting to get in, and your annoying 24-25 year olds for the HOF already?
There's some relative nobody skill players in history who had a year or two as THE top guy at their position, and they can be nowhere near a HOF ballot because the rest their career was mediocre.
You wait until a career is almost done before you make HOF predictions. Not when a career had just begun.
The HOF would be as bad as the Pro Bowl if some fans were voting I guess.

His TDs will hurt him but if he keeps his current pace up over say 2-3 years he will finish he career as a top 5 Reciever of all time.

Mind you, he wouldn't get in today IMO, but by the time his career is over, he'll be in.This is not a homer pick, as anyone who posts here regularly knows I'm one of his biggest critics.
If Eli gets in then Big Ben gets in as Well.

Added Terrell Owens (not offically retired), Randy Moss, and Ronde Barber.
Jared Allen is also someone who could be on the verge. 116 sacks and 27 FF's.
